So I have been looking at some LD cases for my new build. They look nice as hell however they are quite pricey. I'm only going to be doing aircooling, so does anyone know how they do on air? Are they worth the premium price?
For air cooling, I would stay away from LD cases. Not that you can't use them for air cooling but they are primarily a WC case and like you said, quite pricey for a case that you won't use to it's full potential.
First thing is, what's your budget? Next, how big of a case do you need? Any special features you definitely want?
Hi, thanks for your input. Budgetwise, $300 or less would keep my girlfriend from killing me. I have been thinking of going full tower because the extra space is awesome, but its not too big of a deal. Aesthetics are pretty important as it will be pretty visible and I just don't like a lot of the designs I see now. Looks like they were made for kids or guys living in their parents basements. Rig will be predominately gaming so good airflow is essential as well as not sounding like a jet engine.
I don't know your specific needs but I would check out Lian Li as a brand if you are looking for premium build quality. Silverstone had some premiere all aluminum cases back in the day and I am not sure what they are still doing. If you have a list of what you want in a case I can try and help but like others have said for air cooling I would not even consider an LD case.
There are so many cases out there that we will need more info.
Door, no door. How many HDD's or DVD/RW's will you need spaces for? Want a case with plastic in it or a full metal case? Color? Aluminum or steel? etc.
Would prefer no door. Have an old Antec p180 for the last 5 years and the door is so annoying. Want to avoid any plastic. Color isn't much of an issue I usually stick with black though.
Only one optical drive, 2 HDDs and possibly an SSD depending on budget. Either a 7970 or a 680 haven't made up my mind yet. Good cable management and airflow are a must. Even a mATX build isn't out of the question as I'm still juggling between a few boards.
Been browsing the Lian Lis and they look very nice, but they do have alot to choose from which makes it hard.
