Hey guys just read over on the Widows 7 forums of people having problems with Nvidia drivers and W7/64 bit installs. Since I am having many problems with my install I was wondering if anyone else using Nvidia is experiencing anything...esp freeze ups..not in gaming, in general use.
thanks

I think im going to try and install one of the older drivers and see how they perform.

Hey.

No problems with installing the drivers on W7/64, though, I see performance drop comparing to Server2003.

For example in TF2 some maps make the comp drop below 60 fps when there's alot going on.

Any chance you have a Creative Labs card? Some people has reported issues although mine is working fine (with Daniel K drivers that is).

No issues here for the latest driver sets. Now using 195.39 without issues.

Back during W7 Beta the nvidia drivers had some OpenGL flicker in games like Doom 3, haven't experienced it with that latest official and beta drivers now.

Yes. Not liking NV drivers on my laptop which uses the defective 8400m. Don't do much gaming on it but the little bit I do seems to be OK. If I sleep the computer the NV drivers fail about 2-3 minutes after I wake it up. I lose Aero first and then I get crash errors and have to reboot the system.

Haven't tried to hack install the latest and greatest drivers yet but the last time I did it they didn't install at all. The WHQL on the website have the issue as do previous beta versions. Would be nice if NV would update their damned mobile drivers...

No issues on my main rig, with win7 ultimate x64. On my son's system, with win7 home premium x64 the system displays the wrong native resolution and attempts to fix haven't worked. He has an 8800GTS 512 and I have a GTX 260.

Well when i get home tonight Im going to install the drivers again and see what happens..

I've been reluctant to switch to the new nvidia drivers ever since the last batch caused my Photoshop cs4 to act crappily. I have the 182.5 installed and although havent noticed anything with the games I've been nticing some wierd lockups with the system so I might as well give the new ones a go....anybody now some good programs to get rid of drivers completely from the system?

I have a dell xps m1210 with nvidia 7400m
drivers that windows update downloaded had desktop flickering
downloaded 191.56 from laptopvideo2go.com windows 7 seems great, but I haven't played movies or games yet. I have used my usb hdtv tv adapter with out any problems, so I would assume movies are fine (hdtv is just a mpeg .ts stream).

Everything was fine, browsing, etc. Only problems with games and movies.

no problems except unable to make 60hz refresh rate stick in monitor properties. Not sure if this is v ideo card related though, could just be W7 bug/monitor issue

I had random lock ups a couple of months ago that I believe was related to the nvidia drivers.
It would blue screen once or twice a day about 2 times a week. My machine stays on 24/7.
changed drivers and it hasn't happened since.

Installed Windows 7 recently. Using the same drivers that gave me no problem with Vista Ultimate 64-bit, with Windows7 Ultimate 64-bit I can't enable v-sync using OpenGL games (except in windowed mode) and can't change the refresh rate in general from 59Hz. That's all I can think of at the moment. I was getting partial freeze-ups of Windows 7 itself, but that was because of the drivers I was using for my Asus soundcard, not the nVidia drivers. That inability to force v-sync in fullscreen mode is a game-killer though, have tried everything to get around it, but to no avail.

Yesterday W7 blue-screened when using Media Centre upon expanding the TV viewing window to full-screen. That was after having updated the Hauppauge drivers with ones from Hauppauge's web site. It was some nvidia driver file that had faulted. Other than that, no freezes in gaming, benchmarking, or general use SO FAR. I've yet try out oodles more games, though.

Usinig built in driver in Win 7 on a 7950 Go because it's newer than the one on Nvidia's site. Aside from the wish for a newer driver series all is going well. And since there are no graphic glitches on a card this old I am functioning fine so no big worries.

Installed without a hitch and has played Torchlight easily :)

i am trying to install the drivers for my 9600m GT on my sony vaio running win7/64

i am using the ones off nvidias website and when i try to install it, all i get is an option to install HD audio drivers, but nothing for the display, and window will only recognize it as a generic VGA adapter.

any thoughts??

thanks :)

Ever since my Win7 install on my machine with a 9600 GSO in it, I've been unable to get normal resolutions to display properly on my CRT.

Nvidia's drivers recognize 1600x1200 as my CRT's "native resolution". Since CRTs don't have a native resolution, it's plan to see Nvidia's driver is fucked. Any resolution I try to switch an app to (a game for instance) aliases the selected resolution into its 16x12 "native". Meaning, everything looks like like it's on an LCD that's running outside its native res - that is, like shit. Switch to 1280x1024 or 1024x768 in some random game or other 3D application, hit the OSD button, and it displays that it's still running in 1600x1200, but bloating the new resolution into that pixel space. Hard to describe, but easy to see.

None of the workarounds I've found online work, and none of Nvidia's drivers have fixed it yet. I'm not getting rid of the monitor (Mitsu 2070SB) because its an amazing monitor otherwise. If I hunted down some old enough drivers (like the kind I'd used in the Win7 RC), I'm sure I could get it to work, but my patience has grown thin with thie issue.

I have no such issues with my ATi-equipped rig - the video card tells the monitor to switch properly into other resolutions. I have HD 3870s used from a guy on another forum on the way to supplant the offending Nvidia card.

F- Nvidia.
