Anyone having issues with the SMP Client

Last week and this week, it seems a few times each week my E6600 decides to no longer assign processors to FAH. Its not locked up or anything I can close it and restart it... Is something funky going on with Affinity Changer?

I usually can tell cuz the core temps go from 52 to 38, which is a tell tale sign I'm not folding. Oye I need to setup remote desktop or something cuz I'm losing on average the last two weeks 1k PPD...

P4&ATI 800
E6600 2200

S/B 3900 PPD I've been averaging right around 3k...

P.S. Side note god I need to get my quad box up and running... stupid faulty HD!!! ugh~!

This usually happen because the network connection was dropped briefly. The SMP client is unable to recover this so your only option is to restart it. If this happen often, check your network connection.

No connection issues, I'm guessing maybe the servers were full for extended periods of time?

This was stopping mid WU so not related to the link you provided.

This is indeed a symptom of a network hiccup. Even if you say the network is fine, all it take is just 10 seconds of disconnect/reconnect or ip renewal to stall the client. Make sure your network card isn't set to sleep when the computer is unused.

Another vote for network issue. It causes exactly what you are describing. The option is in device manager ->properties for your nic->power managment tab. Uncheck allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. It can also be a bad or loose cable, bad port or a failing nic, plus anything else that might cause a interuption.

Wonder if I should get some utility to monitor a ping to FAH... I'll check the settings as you suggest, but the odd thing is why would it do it pretty much every other day or so? I think it would happen every day...could be a failing nic card maybe... Although I've never had issues surfing the net with the comp.

Yes. The 4 FahCore_a1.exe processes communicate with each other using your local host network address (127.0.0.1). When there is a drop in your connection (to the router or modem if you aren't using a router), regardless of the cause, the work unit just halts and sits there like a big dummy. Wireless connections are the worst of course.
