First off let me say that I'm on my second 7970 (sold my first one) so I doubt my problem is faulty cards. Secondly I experience ZERO issues while gaming...no heat issues, no pixelation, no corruption, etc...my GPU is fine.

However, I've noticed that when using my PC while not gaming (browing the web, browsing my PC, etc) that I sometimes get a very quick white or sometimes purple bar across my screen. Very quick (like a flash - nothing stationary/permanent) and it generally appears mid-section on my monitor and is probably about an inch or so thick.

Like I said, this happened with my other 7970 and happens with different drivers as well. I've Googled it and it seems like a common kind of problem. I've read it isn't dangerous or anything like that but could possibly be a driver issue. Just worrying/bothersome. In the midst of me overclocking it makes my brain think I've messed my card up, though gaming and stress testing proves that the card is fine.

Just wanted to know if anyone else has this issue and if so have you fixed it?
 
I'm reading it might be a problem with the DVI port or the way the drivers interact with the DVI port. If I could get a picture of it I would but it's so fast and certainly doesn't effect anything.
 
Yes I have that problem with my 7970's. I just found what it is last night. It's a problem when the card down clocks and reduces power when on the desktop and it transitions back and forth.

Using GPUZ, even with ULPS turned off, the cards clock down to 300 on the core, and the VDDC goes down to .9 from 1.256. If you overclock by 1mhz, the power sticks in 3d mode, and all flashes go away.

If its driver related, I don't know for sure about that, but I do know it has to do with the power savings.

The down side to always being in 3d mode is a lot more heat. It took my idle temps from 32C up to 50C. It did not affect game temps, but idle was a lot higher.
 
Well don't want to speak too soon but I did some hack last night I found online that fixes the DVI issue (I'm using DVI to VGA with my FW900) and SO FAR I haven't noticed it. Might have happened and I didn't see it...dunno.

If the hack worked I'll post it here in a couple days after some more testing/observation.
