Anyone ever try a TARDIS mod?

Say, I was wondering if there's anyplace on the web that has tried to casemod a computer in the shape of the Doctor Who Tardis (Or police public call box from the 1960s, they're identical, really.)

If I try case modding, that's probably the first design I'd try... I even think it'd be a little easy - you take your standard rectangular aluminum case and build a blue wooden box around it. Open the Tardis right-hand door and you have access to the front - remove the side panel, and you have access to the guts. The trick is cooling - and I'd like to know if there's anything other than Styrofoam that could go into the other half of the Big Blue Box.

I'd suggest to try to build the case from scratch, start off with a close to square mother board (maybe a micro atx one) and put it at the very bottom laying flat, then mount all the other components coming up from there.

Ooh, Which version? I think I could probably do a Hartnell or Davidson verson pretty easily, but I have to admit the Ecclestone TARDIS simply looks the coolest.

If anything, I'd have to say that the Big Blue Box casemod would be the easiest and cheapest - and since this'll be my first attempt, something simple seems very likely.

Then again, if you're looking for a Tardis Console mod, I could see how a classic console might be a possibility. You could probably even put a large fan or series of green-lit fans underneath the clear plastic piping.

Then again, this would be the ultimate in TARDIS mods - although quite frankly I have no idea how the hell I would even begin to approach it...

Hmm...

If I take a budget tower, flip the drive bays 90 degrees so that it's essentially a "desktop" rather than a "tower", I could build the case around it with a base block, four upright posts, and removable side slats (including a "front door" that opened to allow access to the drives. On top of the removable side-panel, I could drill a hole and place a little mini-console on top of that, building the entire interior of the TARDIS around it - I could place an 80mm exhaust fan inside the console, or if I'm feeling spry, route watercooling through a pipe on the top. I extend the Power LED all the way to the top of the TARDIS to the LED at the top...

...I could see doing this. But it'll take alot of time and planning.

don't underestimate the complexity of building it though, there's a lot of wood in there, and it's a tough job to fit everything together without it looking 'unreal' or out ofplace. A small mistake can make it look like just a wooden box instead of a miniature tardis.

Oh man, I used to watch Dr. Who all the freakin time when I lived in Bloody England in the early 80's...came back to the states, and no one had a clue. I would definitely have to rewatch all the original episodes again for inspiration...damn. Good idea. Of course, most people would be like, "WTF, why did you mod a computer into an ugly old phone booth"
