i decided i'm buying some of my parts from here, because you get half life 2 and far cry 2 for free, and this is what i came up with

Thermaltake Soprano Mid Tower Case
Antec True430 ATX 12V 430W Power Supply
Antec 120mm SmartCool Case Fan
WinFast NF4K8MC-ERS nForce 4 Audio/GB-LAN/IEEE/USB/PCI-E/SATA/DDR/U-ATX 64 939
amd 64 300 Venice same one from newegg

just need t know if monarchcomputers is a good company to order from

Ordered from them about five or six times already case, 2 6800 gts, and some other things, never had a problem

my friend just ordered the Asus SLI mobo, 3700+ San Diego, and a Thermaltake heatsink from Monarchcomputers. He had them install it for him because they do it at no extra cost. when he recieved it, the board failed to boot. so he called me up, this is what i found:

1. entire IHS on CPU was covered from tip to tip with excessive amount of thermal paste.
2. very very hard to remove cpu from socket.
3. finally removed cpu. 8 bent pins.....

dont ever let Monarch install stuff for you. they probably dont know what they are doing (like the people at Fry's..).

I ordered from them once, everything went great. I really like that you can quote prices for a week on their site especially since their prices change so much you can really lock in low prices.

And, they're customer service has nice southern accents.

I've ordered from them 5 times, no problems at all. Not the fastest service in the world, but the prices are good and there's no tax for me.

i had a good experience with monarch as well. they are in tucker georgia. so shipping here to texas was quite fast vs newegg.

One thing i dont like about MonarchComputer is that if you decide to cancel your order you have to do it within like the first 30 minutes or so or they hit you with a small fee.

I prefer to do my shopping at ZipZoomFly, Newegg, and ChiefValue.

I ordered most of the parts in my sig from them. Delivered fast and without a single problem. The only problem I had with them was when they assembled the board, cpu and hsf to test, whoever did it seemed to set the bios settings to THEIR specific hardware they tested with. In order to get it to boot correctly with my ram, I had to clear the CMOS. No biggie since I had planned on doing plenty of that anyway since it was my first A64 system :p

The HL2 is a steam download (also includes counter strike source, and a couple other things). FarCry was on CD.

I'd definately order from them again.

When I bought my BFG 6600GT PCI Express, they were the only online retailer that had them in stock. And their price was less than some that would have back ordered it. Good shipping. I would buy from them again.

Never bought anything from them but know people who have and they have had no probs!

Place is a POS.

That's a great contribution to this thread, especially with all the reasons you laid out for that opinion of yours. On a related note however, I've ordered alot of the stuff in my sig plus more from them and they were great!

I have bought quite a few things from them at different times and they arrived quickly and the prices were good. I tend to use them instead of New Egg now.

Thumbs up for Monarch.

Good prices for me when you add up shipping and tax. Hard to beat their prices for combos, esp when you consider the time you spend in labor doing it. Have never had a problem with them. Just ordered two more combos and will let you know if there are any quality issues.

They're fine. I would give them a 4 out of 5. I had a little difficulty getting my stuff shipped on time last time. Took them three days to get a CPU and hard drive shipped out, and both were in stock. I ordered on Tuesday, asked them on Thursday if it had been shipped, they said yes, it shipped Wednesday. The shipping information I got was for some else entirely, so I contacted them again, they apologized and said it shipped out that day (Thursday). When I finally got the tracking information, it stated the package shipped out Friday. I was pretty upset with that and never got a reply when I called them on their second mis-reporting of the ship date.

Not my favorite support experience, nor do they have quick shipping, but they sometimes have very good prices, and they won't actively try to screw you, so that's saying something.

I've never placed an online order with them, because I live about 45 mins away from their location. I

They have an interesting place actually. Ms.Pac-Man arcade game on freeplay while you wait for your order to be pulled from warehouse, intelligent staff willing to explain some finer details to obvious noobs, suggestive sell only applicable items to your order, (nothing like, "have you seen our specials on 17" flatpanel monitors?" when your order consists of a CDRW drive and some round IDE cables). They have a small showroom floor that is open to the public, but there's computers there so that you can browse their website. They also have an area sectioned off with different setups, and the sign above the door to that section of their building says "Monarch Computer School". They do stuff from basic "I've never used a computer before, and I'm 80 years old" classes to high end certification classes. This happens very rarely, but on occaison the tech support staff will host a LAN party that is open to customers who have signed up on a list which is only found in the showroom (or so I'm told by one of the salespeople).

Most of the time, I just walk in with their part numbers and quantity written on a piece of paper, but the one time that I had a problem, was with a defective motherboard. I don't know if their policy has changed, but I wanted to just exchange the board, and they made me wait 30 mins for one of their technicians to test the board before they would exchange it. Other than this one incident, my experiences have been great.

Monarch is hands down the best place that I know of to get brand new equipment locally at the best price.

But, I know nothing about them regarding online ordering or phone ordering.

What does that have to do with anything? lol

Because Southern accents are better than Indian ones. :D
