Just curious, anyone else here have musical skills and have a MIDI keyboard/synthesizer interfaced into their PC? I got an Alesis Micron VA Synth a month ago and it's been the best thing that's happened to my computer in a long time. It's a standalone synthesizer but also works as a MIDI controller. FL Studio is a great way to kill an entire evening playing around with musical ideas.

I use been using EMU Xboard 25 and reason for a while. Got it like 2 yrs or so ago. Been working great every since. I used to use Fruity Loops then I moved on to Abeleton Live, then Reason.

I bought a little Oxygen 49 key a while back, but never got much use out of it (it's in some closet somewhere). I occasionally use Reaktor for sound design, but only rarely.

The Micron's a good synth though. Nearly bought an Ion not too long ago -- probably should have, really.

The Oxygens are pretty nice MIDI controllers. I was really close to buying one, but for everyday use, I'm really glad I got the Micron. Great standalone VA synth, great MIDI controller as well. 3 octaves is a perfect size. The Ion is the Micron's big brother, with the exact same sound engine. The Micron has fewer knobs and more onboard FX, sequencer, etc. What I REALLY would like is an Alesis Andromeda A6 :D
