Anyone else interested in WildStar?

If anyone has a spare guest pass, I'd really appreciate it. I've been wanting to give Wildstar a try but I'd like to get a hands-on before I buy it. Thanks.

Any newcomers to the game or try before buy, keep in mind that the starting areas are slow and not combat-oriented... this is pointed out in many reviews and criticisms. I urge those to keep going forward and get to at least 14+ or higher before really judging whether or not you like the game.

I'm 6 now. The starting area isn't as bad as I thought. Still looking forward to 14+, though.

Thank you. Bottom one used.

Now I have to figure out how to keep the girlfriend away for a few days. Maybe I'll just tell her that she can come over and watch me play Wildstar...lol.

NA Passes for grabs

My gf and I have been living together for 4 years now so I'm pretty much an expert at sneaking away.

Start watching a bunch of different girly/drama/stupid TV shows with her and stop watching 2-3 episodes in. So when she's hooked onto those dumb shows, you can go pwn in Wildstar.

Anyone got a spare NA guest pass? Would like to try this out.

EDIT: got one

Looking for an NA trial code if anyone has it. Figure Ill give the game a try and most likely play it till ArcheAge launches.

Thanks ahead of time!

At level 14 or 15 you go to the capital city (Ilum for Dominion) and there will be a quest to tour things and acquire the house. Pick up the riding mount at the same time as well.

yeah, it's 14 for the house, 15 for the mount - so if you can power through 14, do it all at once at 15

also, note that a mount at 15 costs 10g 67s or so

I had a weird bug happen to me today. For the life of me, I could not find Armorrer Thaako. I literally looked for him for 30min. Turns out he was just invisible. Well I restarted the game and he's still not there. I even had someone jump repeatably at the location he's at and I couldn't see anyone. Da fuq?

played my trial till 10 or so, just couldn't keep going... reminded me of classic wow starting area progression all over again

I've got to level 50 over the week-end. I guess WoW had spoiled me.

While zones, story and quests seem interesting to me, the level of grinding and elitist expectations are just disappointing. Killing a mob that gives 2% to overall quest progression just speaks of the poor design.

Quest rewards weren't class- or role-based. Most of the rewards I saw were pure DPS gear. Kinda hard to get a tank or a healer ready for level 50 adventures or dungeons.

If you don't have a guild or friends to play with together, then the veteran adventures and dungeons are freaking hard. Also most of them take hours to complete. Thinking of Stratholme or Maraudon in vanilla WoW. As a DPS you have to wait in the queue for 15-20 minutes, and then if the group loses the chance to get a gold medal either tank or healer simply leave to requeue for another insta-dungeon and you're left to sit on your ass again. Adventure and dungeon rewards are based on the medal you get. One random death = lulz, you get no epics.

Level 50 daily quests = same set of quests on badly phased Crimson Bay aka Crimson Badlands, no randomization or variation.

Raids = I read it requires getting a gold medal in all dungeons. Well, good luck with that.

(I doubt I'm going to sub for this).

yeah WoW spoiled you with it's easy loot and mechanics - this game isn't for the casuals when it comes to group content, just like WoW wasn't when it came out originally and even years after...

There is no Timeless Isle with free epics.

I just hit 47.5 last night, getting pretty close to 50, so I can't comment on the dailies... but the quests are pretty much what you would expect - 2% or not, a lot of what you can do is AoE based by default since you telegraph everything... so pull a lot and use the stuns/interrupts!

the gear choices from quests definitely has tanking options, not sure where you got the DPS only notion - I passed up a ton of tank gear for my engineer the entire time questing... I'm guessing you had this notion because of the unfamiliar stat names like Tech and Insight (tanky) vs Finesse, Moxie, and Brutality (DPS)

regarding Raids - yeah, getting attuned for the first 20 man raid is not a cakewalk, but not impossible - just requires some dedication and time

Raids = I read it requires getting a gold medal in all dungeons. Well, good luck with that.

oh yeah and it's only Silver for the attunement quest... not that it's that much easier as the difference between silver and gold is not dying at all, I believe the time to complete requirement is the same, like 30-45 minutes depending on the dungeon.

Wow, ash... you managed to get level 50 within 2 weeks of release, and then complain that you aren't already raiding end game content.

I don't really have anything else to say.

I play a spellslinger, so most quests had only one armor piece, usually Finesse/Moxie (DPS). Only rare in between there were quests offering weapons with Insight/Moxie(Heal). Only later in the game (45+) there was some gear variability. Just comparing to leveling in WoW when you always had a choice of gear for any spec - dps/heal/tank.

Yeah, I had a feeling during leveling, that grouping with other people was pretty much required. Too may elites, quests were taking too long to complete, but once you grouped with someone it all became a joke really. Facerolling everything in seconds.

I'm not complaining that I can't raid end game stuff. I haven't even seen all dungeons and adventures yet. I'm just pointing that this game is pretty much like vanilla WoW. Not much conveniences for players and progression requires some serious effort. I don't have time for that... maybe 15 year ago, but not now.

I felt exactly the same way as you did, I tried but I just could not get into it also a big turn of for me was the animations they are very floaty which is not for me. I may give it a shot at a later time.

I was so hyped for WS, then as I started playing through early betas I lost interest because it's so much like WoW and other themepark mmo's

I'm loving it so far, about 9 hours in. I am kinda getting sick of the engineer, though. But I don't feel like starting all over again.

I think you're exaggerating quite a bit on the quest choices and WoW didn't change their rewards for quests until Cata or even more so in MoP when everything was specific to your character and not even same rewards for different classes of the same quest.

not to mention there are plenty of other ways to get gear besides quests while leveling, for instance each zone you quest in typically has a quartermaster for a related faction with gear on it.

there's 1 quest I've come across when you have to kill elites, other than the specific quests that say 2+ or 5+

but I agree there are quite a lot of similarities to Vanilla WoW regarding difficulty and I welcome it regardless of the extra time I have to put in - that's the game... WoW is a joke right now. If you don't have time that you did 15 years ago, well that's kinda expected? times change your priorities, stick to wow if you want, but don't give out misinformation tweaked by your opinion

Since you're on the trial I'd suggest trying a few other characters out. Maybe try to get to level 15 on a couple that interest you.

I initially wanted to play Stalker then last minute decided to play Medic (I'm a tank in ESO.) Got the Medic to 31 and their DPS rotation just kept getting clunkier. Now I'm playing Warrior and having a lot more fun. Redoing everything sucks, but I just keep telling myself the game's only been out for less than 2 weeks.

yeah, I agree... also some key abilities for classes (I think spellslinger is one) don't unlock until level 18 even, so a lot can change in play style

I like watching the streamers like Kungen, Towelliee, and Riggs from Blood Legion wipe for hours on in doing Veteran Dungeons. Reminds me so much of Vanilla WoW, I was going to grab the game this weekend for nostalgia alone! Unfortunately I heard that the Steam Summer Sale is happening soon, so it will have to be after that.

That's a intended design choice by the developers, as they have stated.

There is casual content for the casual player and hardcore for the hardcore. For those that fall in the middle, there's dungeons and hardmodes, for the casuals, ship hands and adventures. The "Key-ing" process to get into the raids is hardcore by itself.

I understand from your statement that you are not complaining, but it is of note to people who may not be aware what they are getting into. This statement and yours should be more of a PSA, it's not what WoW turned into, it's Vanilla WoW with polish and it's own personality.

I do contend that there are player conviences, but there are some design flaws too, it's not perfect.

All-in-all, and enjoyable experience.

I need to check this out, I didn't think they were that hard!

Perhaps they need more Crimelords adventure farming, you can get that down to an insanely low time gold completion of less than 20 minutes.

Yeah I finally gave up. Everyone said get to 15 or so, but I just couldn't do it. I leveled 6+ alts to 10 and none of them grabbed me. I tried the four classes I was remotely interested in and every starter and second zone just to make sure it wasn't the zone.

It didn't scratch the itch for me either. If anything it made me wish I liked it since now I feel like playing something.

Endgame is pretty broken, especially when aiming for attunements.

Mobs and allies bug out on veteran adventures, pretty much rendering some runs impossible to get Gold (or even silver for attunements).

Some WotW "optional" objectives are bugged. Capture 3 points! Yup capturing enemy or neutral points dont count to it, cant make it to 1, let alone 3. Not the only bugged optional quest.
Malgrave trail bugged out on us twice. We set up camp, and we can't uncamp them, forcing us to restart and take another route hoping it doesnt bug when we camp.
Crimelords enemies sometimes rubberband and evade-reset, making the KILL THEM ALL part of the quest impossible, cannot complete.

And the fact that Carbine isnt really responding to the issues and just saying "we're working on it" while they recently broke WotW in a hotfix is the worst part. "It's so hard for us to unfix the issue, blah blah blah" bullshit. I'm a software engineer, if they easily cant undo the ruleset change they made recently, then they're in for a world of hurt for any development further in the game.

I don't see a trial anywhere on their website, how do you get in it?

I wanted to love this game so much. I wanted it to pull me away for wow. I wanted this to be my next big game. I bought the collectors edition and played an engineer to level 20 and I'm done already. I just don't see much of a difference between this and other mmos that I've invested time in. The biggest deal breaker for me is that this js the first game ever in my 33 year old life that a game makes me seasick. I can't play it for more than 30 min before I get a splitting headache and want to puke.

you're not the only one....it gave me a headache after an hour's worth of play...i swear this game was made for a console to be sitting 15 feet away from the monitor and treated more like an RTS game...its almost like they took an RTS game and melded it with a 'mmo'...I can't deal with 'action oriented' mmo's...rolling around ALL THE TIME is not fun to me

eqnext, is the next big mmo i'm waiting for...probably a 2015/16 release

Engineer

General
The synergy between Bolt Caster and Bio Shell was so strong that it allowed Engineer to output DPS numbers considerably higher than other classes. While we enjoy the play style, the damage output was unfair by comparison. Here are the changes we made to address this issue:
Bolt Caster was changed from 5 lines to 3 and the damage per line has been increased (but the total damage possible decreased.) This will make the ability a more consistent performer regardless of the size of the target

22.87% Assault Power , up from 15.51%

I want this game. I really do, unfortunately i just bought a brand new car and am moving which has whipped out my savings and put me on a tight budget for the next few months. I dislike coming into MMO's late, everyone else is already built up with gear and cash and its next to impossible to really catch up
