Ike went directly over my house on Friday night. No power for the foreseeable future, so I've lost my one GPU client. My SMP client at work is back up, but I'll be taking a pretty significant PPD hit.

Has anyone else experienced Ike's wrath?
 
I escaped Ike, but Gustav put a tree down on the house we just bought and moved into 4 days earlier. We didn't loose power tho...

Hoping you get up and running soon.



 
Ike missed me entirely. We were supposed to get the remnants (DFW, TX) and nothing hit us. A little rain and a little wind, but nothing like they said we should have gotten.

 
I'm here to tell you bro Mohonri don't even sweat the ppd hit, there are many people in the [H]orde that'll make up for it. Believe me, it ain't "charity", it's just doin' the same thing you'd do if you were in the position to do so.:D

I'm in Ohio but we just got our power back since it got out on Sunday. (wind gusts due to Ike)
 
I'm surprised how long Ike lasted--my sister in Indiana lost a tree and lost power for a while. She's a 14 hour drive from here!

We made it through the hurricane just fine--no damage to the house, although we did lose a (n already dying) tree. Tons of people in our neighborhood lost fences and trees, but few ended up with holes in their roofs. Centerpoint energy now say they have restored power to about 1/3 of Houston. Still about 1.3 million customers in the dark, or around 3+ million people. They brought in an extra 7000 contractors to help with the work (power out = no money for them), and they're restoring power to about a quarter million customers each day. Still no idea when they'll get up to my area, though.
 
In Quebec City wher I live (about 2200 miles from Galveston), 2 cars got drowned by a flash flood under a highway bridge and some trees got ripped to shreds in the northern area of the city. Hopefully, no power loss around here but my parents is not so lucky with a half-day outage due to a fallen tree on a power line.

 
Cincinnati here. Sunday afternoon we lost power, Internet and phones. I just got service back 7 am today (Thursday). My office was up on generator power and cellular backup for the Internet, but no bandwidth or spare power available for the boxen.

All is well again...I started up the folding machines and I'm back producing.
I don't mind four days of cold showers, but it really sucks having the boxen down.
 
Fortunately, even though we've been without power for going-on-a-week, we still have gas for cooking/hot water, and the water/sewer work just fine. I have no idea what I look like when I leave the house in the morning, though, since candlelight doesn't illuminate things very well.
 
I feel your pain. Lilly went right over Lafayette a couple of years ago. We didn't have power for 5 days. Nothing like being in the south with no A/C.

On a slightly different note...49 platforms confirmed destroyed along with 2 major gas/oil pipeline transmission networks. Gonna be a long and busy 12-18 months.



 
We just got our power back about 35 minutes ago. Ah, air conditioning is a wonderful thing!
