I was looking around for guides to de-matte my screen and I stumbled across this method used on macbooks:

Anyone ever try this on a monitor?? I might try to grab a broken Dell monitor off eBay with similar coating to try it, as I want to de-matte a tn gaming panel.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. There's a chance you could ruin the screen. Could be a costly mistake, especially some gaming monitors costing upwards of $500.
 
Sorry, was being sarcastic. I don't think I would try it.
 
not completely ruin. Even if you scratch the shit out of it, the screen still works.
 
Don't most people just lay wet paper towels on it and peel up the coating?
 
I remember removing an anti glare coating on a CRT once, that was some intense wiping right there, my fingers were all numb once finished and could barely twist them. :p For me Cif multipurpose clean cream worked somewhat but I'm sure there's better working stuff out there
