Very nice looking game. I might have to try it. But does it have a useable 1st person perspective view (unlike WoW which doesn't)? Every screenshot i've seen so far is in 3rd person, and I can't play an MMORPG like that.

Yes, it does have a first-person view. However, your field of view will be very limited and I think you'd be at a substantial disadvantage playing that way. There's a reason the default is 3rd person.
I'm still playing my Guardian, btw. I'm about to hit level 41 and I've learned to work around the wound changes. I equip my virtues and gear differently, that's for sure. Hakai (the Champ and Guard dev) said that there would be some future changes, so maybe it won't be that bad after the next patch. Until then, I'll just wince whenever I see a high-level bear and keep tankin'.
