Anyone ?

I'm using it now, but my temps are at 43C and that's just normal use and normal software loaded (eg: Antivirus, Firewall, AntiSpyware, etc) CPU load is at around max 10%. When I start gaming at max all (eg: WoW) I commonly get at around 50C.

And no, I'm not overclocking.

I don't know if it's the seating or if it's the Liquid Metal pad. I re-seated the block with a new Liquid Metal pad twice already. And still with same result.

Not tight enough ? I'm using the Alphacool XP Bold block (see sig for more details). Please let me know, I'm quite clue less at the moment.

A pic is attached if necessary (imagine tilting the picture 90 deg counterclockwise)... a couple of days old don't mind the wirings, it looks a lot more cleaner now.

I have never tried the pads but I swear by the Liquid Metal Pro.I have tried quite a few TIMs but nothing compares to LMP.

Did those pads even come out yet?

Besides, they'll probably be real expensive for a TIM and they aren't reusable.

Be careful what you use that stuff on. Someone used Liquid Metal Pro on a Storm G5 and all but ruined it.

The Liquid Metal pad won't do anything bad on anything the liquid stuff (that comes in from an injection tube) does ruin anything that's made of aluminum.

I think I'm gonna try to go for AS5... and see the difference...

I have used it on several blocks, Storm rev2, MP-05 SP LE, and now my FuZion. Since I lap my CPU cleaning the block up is no problem.

i tried this stuff (the stuff in the syringe not the pads) and obviously didnt do it right or something, the stuff beaded up like mercury and just rolld off the components(and underneath other electrical components, making it impossible to remove) and it was impossible to spread. this is the reason my brand new 1 month old DFI Infinity 975x/g had to be taken out into the backyard and set on fire. what a nightmare. AS5 forever.

It works ok on copper. However the G5 is silver, and the LMP all but ruined it.

Im just letting people know that they should exercise caution when using this. Personally I dont think the benefit, if any, over AS5 is worth the hassle.

Thanks for letting us know. Prob saved somebody a big hassle. Not to mention time, money and a perfectly good block.

If anything, silver is less easily oxidized than the copper. Whatever ends up on the surface of the silver should be easily removed by dipping the block in vinegar for a short while.

That is because the surfaces were not clean enough. You need to clean them thoroughly with 91% Isopropyl alcohol then it spreads like butter.

Have you ever tried LMP?

im farmiliar with the stuff, $1.98/quart at walmart, i got 6 bottles in my closet and i spread it with a clean paintbrush like in the picture, it didnt help any. although it did spread like hot butter all over the mobo

I've had similar problems with the LMP.

It would NOT adhere to my Conroe IHS.

I took the CPU out of the socket (to prevent it going all over my board as seen above), cleaned it with 99.1% denaturalized iso. alcohol. I even heated the syringe to about 45c (and the IHS with a hairdryer) as I heard it would help.

Didn't help at all.

So, I was going to mash the block down on the bubble of LMP, but I thought against this as it might all roll out... onto my P5B-deluxe.

I've heard this stuff works better on IHS's that have some machine grooves in them, allowing the LMP to grip the surface.

I experienced the "Puddling effect" until I cleaned the IHS and the block enough. Then I could spread a very thin layer with no runoff.

How much did you clean it? I spent 10 minutes with the denaturalized alcohol... Scrubbing both surfaces. I even tried to apply it to the waterblock, nogo.

yea i tried all of that as well, i tried it on my conroe out of the box, after i laped it down to 1600 grit, then again at 2200 grit, tried it on the water block, nothin doin... maybe its the type of metal the IHS is made out of doesnt play nice with this stuff...? i also tried to spread it on the die and ram chips, before and after cleaning, on a junk video card i had (before i put it anywhere near my mobo)

As stated I used 91% Isopropyl alcohol and wiped them down until the cleaning cloth came out clean with no dark coloration. Then the LMP spread easy and very smooth with no puddling. I have used it on lapped and un-lapped CPUs.
