Anybody seen this card before?

Impressive sensitivity, and Envy chipset - but price breaks the bank heh
 
The snake cable is not too impressive, I would have expected a break-out box at the least for $200.

However the card's build (just from that photo) seems to be incredible for a card in it's price range.
 
i was unaware that onkyo made pc cards lol i heard onkyo was good for home theatre recievers though
 
anyone find it funny that it looks to have, what could be EASILY mistaken for a VGA port on it?

I mean, your typical grandma isn't going to have this card anyhow, so it's only the ubergeek that will, but.. it's just odd, methinks

you mean the midi/joystick port? those have been on cards for... well since i had a 386

The card in questions has a DB-15 port : identical layout to Analog VGA.

My guess is that ONKYO [or whoever manufacturers the card for onkyo] is using that port to head up to some sort of dongle-cable with a bunch of inputs and outputs, and is using a VGA header because they are cheap.


Oh, and to the mods. - These pics [like the other ones I had posted in another thread] are *NOT* bandwidth theft, as I *OWN* the server that I am "stealing" from.

I think you would be correct with that assumption. This card has been out for a while, and just from seeing all the drooling smilies in foreign audio forums, I'm assuming it's incredibly good. It's chock full of nichicon caps and even has an external ground plane :eek: I heard that they will not be releasing this card in the US.

Which was *PRECISELY* my point.. - for which I was corrected [incorrectly] by klowngoblin... Somebody, somewhere, someday, is either going to a) plug a monitor into that sound card.. or b) plug a dongle cable into their monitor port, and pump different voltage, analog video signals to their sound speaker system.

I was trying to give my fellow [H]'ers the benefit of the doubt to not be stupid enough to confuse a VGA port and a proprietary sound-board port (and a midi port for that matter) then my 'benefit' was smacked by klowngoblin being a tard


It's not about my e-penis, or real one, for that matter. My point was more that "wow, they should have forseen that one -- I hope nobody loses a computer system to a mis-plugging"

Like when I worked at college, and one of our resident "experts" kept plugging PRINTERS into scsi cards.

we got to keep all the internal scsi ribbon cables with burn marks down the middle.

and I had someone jury rig a keyboard [ya know, with letters on it] to a midi-round plug.. and wonder why it didn't work [DB-5 round old "AT" style]
 
All those full size capacitors are a good thing.

Yea people do stewpid things with computers.... it just comes with the territory I guess?

BTW I didn't know about the server thing.
I was thinking plant site for hardware picts?
All it would have taken is a PM for me to correct the whole thing. ;)

It's a dead site I use as a dump space.. My father (who passed away in april) invented that product, but, before we could finish the design, his passing occured. So, now, since I own the domain, and the server anyhow... might as well use it as a dump site
