Anybody running Linux under Hyper-V? How is performance?

I'm currently running Hyper-V with a couple of virtual machines but I'd like to install Linux and I'm not sure how performance will be compared to ESXi.

Truth be told, I'd like to try ESXi but my existing 6 TB array is preventing me from doing so and I'm not interested in creating smaller arrays nor running a secondary SAN server.

Anyways, I know that Linux Integration Components are now available for Linux (and Ubuntu 10.04 even includes them by default) so it should be plenty fast but again, I'm not sure how this compares to Linux on ESXi...

I have debian running on both esxi and hyper-v... (two hard-drives in the same machine, dual boot) It runs about the same to be honest. I had an easier time installing / configuring / getting drivers to work with hyper-v, but I kind of feel more peace of mind / stability with esxi.

I normally boot hyper-v because except debian all of my other OS' are win2008 based and run microsoft applications / servers

Are there any cross-platform benchmarks to test exactly how it performs? (for example, disk i/o, network performance, etc)

VMWare does not allow benchmarks to be published without it approving the tests, which in practice means no objective benchmarks can be published.

I have Ubuntu server 9.10 running under Hyper-V and it works just fine.

Do you still have to use the legacy network adapter in hyper-v for a linux vm?

Does anyone know if there is a listing somewhere of linux distros that have hyper-v components built it, i had no idea there were any.

I have a 2 node hyperv R2 cluster with all windows vm's currently but I could forsee adding some linux ones if they worked well...just havent had time to try it yet.

I run a centos based email system and openvpn-as under hyperv and both perform flawlessly. I use the legacy adapter in openvpn and the MS integration pack with centos. I have had zero performance issues. I did have an issue with the clock drifting but I was able to correct it.
