im a new member here and was hoping somebody could help me out with this problem. I just upgraded my system from a AMD athlon 2600xp and the KT400 mobo to a Intel 3.0ghz w/ 800fsb and the 865gbf(although so far i wouldnt say its been much of an upgrade). Since day 1 my system crashes periodicly then when i reboot i get a message "system was shut down because your cpu experienced a thermal event...bla...bla....bla". Ive had both parts since exchanged and i still have the same problem. Ive also just reformatted my HD and reinstalled windows with no sucess on fixing the problem. I know all the components in my system are good b/c i just tested them out on the old athlon system. Heres my system specs:

intel 3.0ghz w/ 800 fsb
deskboard 865gbf
2x512(total 1 gig) corsair 3200xms low latency memory in duel
channel mode
ATI radeon 9700pro w/ 128mb mem
soundblaster audigy gamer
maxtor 120gig 7200rpm w/ 8mb cache

i have 3 case fans installed and dont really believe anything is over heating. Ive been using intel active monitor to keep track of temps and the cpu temp never reaches more than 42c and the ambient temp inside the case is in the low 30's. This leads me to believe theres no thermal problems. Anybody have any ideas? I think i might need a new power supply, wonder if that makes sense. Any help would be appreciated, thanx

Check on your BIOS what the thermal shutdown temp is set to. I'm not sure what else to say since you bought an Intel board. They don't give you nearly as many tweaking options in the BIOS as a much better board. If possible, send it back for an IS7-E.

no options in bios to higher the temp, i turned off asf support and now i just seems to turn off every so often. I think im going to buy a new power supply, cant really think of any other thing o check or change
