Alright, this is my first attempt at o/c'in (excepting for video cards). I've just started, and this is the setup:
AMD T-bird 950(volcano 7 hsf), Tyan S-2390 mobo, 256mb generic ram(1 kingston pc133, 1 hyundai pc100-dont laugh, its all i had)
I barely started toying....changed the mem timing to 2/3/3/6, fsb is at 103 from 100(making the cpu 978.5). My idle(websurfing) temps are 35C cpu/23C case. I want to run the cpu hard overnight to get load temp/stability info, but am unsure of what to use. I saw some posts on prime95, but im not leaving this connected to the web, and would rather not use a prog that sends info back and forth to some server. Anything else i can use?

Wish the search worked, I refuse to sit here lookin thru 700+ posts for t-bird info.

yup.....i remember those days.......tbird 1.0 @ 1.46 on a asus a7v133. used a alpha 6035.....then a thermoengine....and then an alpha 8045.

prime doesn't need to be connected to the internet to use the torture test...

just run its torture test, select blend mode its great for stability testing. although its always a good idea to use other tests too.

From my vague recollection of my Tbird ocing days, I never had a 950 that overclocked too well. The AXIA 'Y' / AYHJA (1.5GHz ish)were the cream of the crop but I suspect you may have something a lot worse, i.e. ARGA

You should be able to get 1.1GHz with 1.85v.

I wouldn't go playing with the mem timings just yet, especially with diff speed pairs.

I'll put the memory back to stock, and then see how far I can go first. I want to tourture it before going up a notch tho.
