Any way to tell what PCI-E maximum payload size is?

My BIOS has a number of options for PCI-E maximum payload size - 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, etc.

And 'auto'.

Which is what it is set to now. I'd like to try making some changes to this (attempting to resolve annoying sound stutters/skips on an X-Fi), but...well, I have no idea what value it's using at present. What size is "auto"???

Is there any tool or utility that you can run in Windows that will be able to report this information? A benchmark that could at least provide a good guess as to what the value is? etc?

I remember having this setting on my old board and it set manually to 4096. I have no clue what it actually meant, but I do remember reading 4096 was best and it seemed to be so when I set it to that. Best bet would be to test each one and see if you even notice any desirable difference.
