any USB 3.5mm remote inputs?

You could use an IR emitter (flasher) connected to the IR Distribution block to relay the signal to the USB receiver. Something like the Xantech 78944 would have the 3.5mm input.

I've honestly never seen an adapter like the one you are looking for, and I used to do a ton of IR systems at work. Maybe if you explain exactly what it is that you are trying to do we can come up with a solution.

yes, if i cant find anything i can take an emitter, take the receiver i linked and tape the ends of them together, but i was wondering if there was a simpler solution.

i already have something like that. i want to run a 3.5mm cable between that and my PC.

i want to control my PC with a universal remote, and it wont have line of site. i already have an IR receiver and distribution block at my TV. considering i have to buy an IR receiver when i already have an IR receiver in place, i figured a usb device, which windows will see as a media center remote, but instead of having an IR receiver, it has a 3.5mm trs jack would serve me better.

let me put it another way i want to have something like this on my pc.

i know its not a common need, but i was just wondering if something like that existed.

yeah i have not seen it...

your looking for a USB IR receiver that does not actually have the IR receiver but rather an input jack...

Ya I have not seen one of those and would actually suggest attacking the problem from the opposite way.

Now days its so much more functional to control your HTPC with a phone, then use the same phone to control all your IR devices with some sort of software / hardware combo like harmony link or itach and various software. I use unified remote to control the HTPC as well as any other PC in the house and even turn them on from completely off. Then any person who walks into the room can either pick up some mp3 player/ old phone / tablet and control it or use their own. And the best part is this is more future proof since we are going to continue to see a lot more devices enable control over IP.
