Any suggestions?

Hi guys.. I'm new to this forum. I currently have a dell dimension 8200 and I what I could possibly do to it. It has a p4 2.8GHz processor 80GB HD and 512MB of Ram. I really am not sure what motherboard it has nor do I know much about motherboards but I would really like to learn. I have another computer AMD 1.1GHz that I am really interested in experimenting with. How does overclocking work and is it possibly to overclock my AMD 1.1GHz computer? I would also like to transfer it from its currently bulky ugly case into something nice with a glass/plastic side. I would be interested in maybe installing a new cooling system. Would a water cooling system be appropriate? What are the advantages and disadvantages. Lets not forget I have not really taken apart computers so I guess I should keep it simple to start. I do have basic knowledge of computers though. If you guys have any links to some kind of flash tutorial that would be really great. Please post your suggestions and if you want to suggest a specific case etc please post the url for it. Thanks guys

with all due respect, hit the web and read up a little..there are so many questions there, i dont know where to begin....but you really, really, really, DONT needwatercoolingfor your 1.2 AMD...and as for your dell--make sure you know the specs of the warranty before you crack it open.

Thanks guys.. As far as the dell warranty, its already done with.. Is it even possible to overclock a pentium processor?

Yes you can overclock a P4, but I'm sure that most of the forum members will agree that overclocking a notebook is a very risky thing.

i agree with item number 1.
with item number 2, however, just don't got to tomshardwareguide (THG), it's a piece of shit, why you ask?
b/c he 1.) doesn't know wtf he's talking about
2.) accepts money for favorable reviews
3.) is biased towards Intel, always.
4.) has little to no credibility what-so-ever with logical rational thinking people
to add to teh sites, check out the various STICKIES on this (and other) forums, such as Drisler's excellent Memory FAQ on the front page of this forum, and the HDD FAQ on the Storage forum, etc. etc...
