Any Success with Mobo OC Programs?

With my recent post "Gigabyte P45DQ6 won't OC QX6850" I wonder if anyone has had any success in using the "quick and easy" overclocking software or BIOS settings found in most motherboards? It seems from my past experience and recently with the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6, these programs and BIOS functions are a "bust" and really a wasted effort, because they don't seem to accomplish their purpose, one click or fast, easy overclocking without dealing with the many settings and their interactions with manual or "doing it yourself" overclocking. Which makes sense considering the number of CPU and RAM combinations, alone, a motherboard can be subject to, how could a program or preset BIOS option cover these with any success.
 
I have never had a great deal of success with any software overclocking programs. Even the most advanced ones generally don't have enough tweaking options to be able to make any significant amount of progress.
 
I believe it was from the Newegg reviews, but for the Gigabyte P45-DQ6 several commented being able to use the first setting in the Easy Tune 6 program for quick overclocking, but added they couldn't go any further. Which is why I tossed out this original post, wondering if there was anyone having success.
