Hi all, (again)

im looking for a relatively silent 6800 vanila

apparently the BFG isn't one of them so the search continues.
the gainward and the leadtech ones look good.... pny?
any comments suggestions?

im thinking of just getting one thats ok and slapping the acrtic cooler on it, but im also trying to keep it under $300
so maybe just an eVGA one and the cooler?

my optimal one would be something thats around 40 dB (like my aeroflow) in noise
350+ and 750+ on the OC would be nice.
(plus the 16 pipes)

a completely silent one is nice, but not a must.

If you look at the Gigabyte's back cooler, it has holes where you can mount a fan to your noise-level liking :) The Gigabyte 6800GT has the same cooler, but with a fan on it. Leadtek is also fairly quiet, but warmer than reference...I'd personally just get a reference cooler 6800, but that's me :)

Before frying my Gigabyte 6800GT, i took the cooler off and it is VER nice indeed.
Beats the hell outta the stock cooler and looks way more bling.
Check out some pics I took of it and its design...
The GigaByte is your best bet for a passive cooler. no doubt.

btw, what is stock temp for the refference card?

also.. hats the size of teh fan that you can mount on that gigabyte?

i was not aware you could fit a fan on it but if you can,
look at the GT version, it will not be any bigger than seen.
Its a 40mm or so...
cooling was a good as an active stock cooler with no fan in the review I saw

anyone know for sure whats the size of the Gigabyte fan?

Mase, thanks, have you tried a 40mm on it?

and yes, the leadtek does seem very good too

i think you missed something, i had the 6800Gt w/ the fan installed but had to RMA it.
I get the new one tomorrow and I will show you a pic. Otherwise go check the reviews of the 6800
and see for yourself what the size is roughly. Newegg has some shots too i think.
