Any recommendations on webcams?

I am hoping this is the right section because I could not find a specific or relative place to post this.

I am looking for a nice webcam for around or under $50 that has good resolution and looks good for a flat screen lcd. Any recommendations?

At $50 you won't be able to get one of the top range webcams with full 1080p and such, but it should fetch you a decent one. I'd go almost exclusively with Logitech, I'd suggest you browse through their site and see which one under $50 catches your fancy.

$50 is very limiting. I'm with Tsuyoi's suggestion of Logitech. Though if you can up your budget another $20-30, you'll have a lot more to choose from. Keep an eye out for any sales.

Then again, we don't really know what context this will be used in -- application(s), LCD size/resolution, distance between object and camera, bandwidth (if going over Internet), etc.

1080p is unneeded. This camera will be used on my parents computer which is an i5 2320, 6gb ram, an a ati 6450 1gb ddr3 gpu. They will mainly be using it for Skype conversations and perhaps some other web chatting via Yahoo or AOL. The screen they will be using is a 23" Widescreen Dell (do not remember the specific number).

They want something that is easy to use and will last. They do not want to spend above $50 and would like it in the next week or two.

The general network infrastructure between your parents and the recipient will be the first limitation, second would be whichever camera is lower quality (ie: your parents' or the recipient's).

Given your strict budget, I'd go with the Logitech C310 -- $47 with free shipping.

Edit: Newegg has another version that comes with a headset for $3 more -- C310H. Your call on whether your parents would find value in that.

In that price range I'd second the recommendation for the Logitech C310: It produces 16:9 720p images (but keep in mind that Skype will downconvert that to 4:3 480p and compress the video even further).
