Any problems with OS changes for RAID?

Alright, I currently have a RAID 5 array of 4x1.5TB on Windows 7 RC. I'm using Intel's matrix storage RAID controller that was included on my mobo. In light of the coming automatic shutdowns etc for using the RC, I'm planning to upgrade to the full version. However, MS prevents you from simply "upgrading" to the full version, and I'd instead have to do a clean install.

My question: will my RAID volume still be accessible/recognized after the clean install? I'm aware that the intel controller is sort of similar to software RAID, but I'm not sure how exactly it keeps track of everything. The drivers will likely get rewritten during the clean install, and I'm not sure if it has a bit of memory set aside for current configuration.

It will be a huge pain if I have to back them up to some temporary storage before making the switch... but I've only got a month to get everything together, so we'll see.

Any insight on this would be appreciated.

Your RAID config is handled by the ICH controller on the mobo.

If your OS is not on the R5
Reinstall your OS and your RAID should still be there.

If it is on the R5
Then make sure you just install over the OS partition and not the whole thing.

The OS will be going on a new SSD (when I get one), so that shouldn't be an issue.

If everything is stored with the mobo, then all is well. Just wanted to make sure everything would be fine before going ahead with it.

The info will be stored on each drive, not some flash on the controller. It will work just as before once all the necessary drivers are loaded, which will likely be automatically be seen by Windoze 7.

You should be fine assuming you don't wipe the/that partition during install!
