Any performance/stability differences between NForce3 250 & KT800 mobos?

If you want something that is fast and stable would recomend something based the sis 755 chipset like asrock K8S8X. This is cheap and very fast with excellent stability.
Most nForce 3 250 boards have various issue and the via based boards are definetely slower.

The nForce3 250 boards seem to have better benchmarks even at stock speeds and they overclock better as well. If money is really tight than the Via boards tend to be slightly cheaper to buy. If you don't mind taking a chance on a NewEgg refurb then this board is a hell-of-a deal @$39 + $5 shipping.
There is with 6800 cards.... though I can't be the sole judge.
I have a P4C800-E based system (875) with a PNY 6800 Ultra... I also have a board based on the newish Gigabyte Socket 939 board (Nforce3 Ultra) with a 3800+.
On the 875 machine I have no problems.
On the A64 box, I get random pauses, lockups, etc in 3d apps. There's some threads on nvnews.net that cover this problem ad nauseum. Some people have suggested that it's limited to nforce3, but I saw one person reporting this problem on an 865 board as well.
There's 2 solutions apparently, either disabling Fastwrites (worked for some, but not me), and setting your 2D and 3D clock speed values identically (on my PNY card, 3d by default is 425, 3d is at 400 - if I make these both 425, I don't seem to lock up anymore.)
I've ruled out bad memory, cards, etc. Prime 95 on the A64 box runs indefinitely without incident, and I don't overclock save the 25mhz 2d value above.

I have found that there is a known issue with PunkBuster games such as CoD when using the NForce3 chipset and an ATI Video card. I have been experiencing a 3-5 second pause every 3-4 minutes when I play in PunkBuster enabled games online, all other games (Far Cry, UT2004, Doom 3, and C & C Generals are working just fine). A "Fix" to PunkBuster is supposed to be in the works.
