I'm thinking about buying the Adobe CS3 suite on Ebay. I have been finding listings for as much as $1,000 less than retail. Now if I do decide to pull the trigger and my copy comes already registered/cant activate/ whatever. I presume by law the seller is held accountable correct?

Check their feedback. If it's 100%... you should be okay, make sure you read their comments and stuff
my rules of thumb when it comes to buying anyhting from ebay
1. have at least 500 feedback with a rating of 98% or higher
2. read throught the comment and make sure its all legit replies...
3. make sure the product is in the U.S.A. (if he is out of the u.s.a. you have no protection even if you use paypal.
if he has all of the above go ahead and pull the trigger...
ive bought software such a nero, quick books, sony video suite, and oblivion... all were major underpriced and legit....
imake sure the sellers check out though
