I've got a good deal on a 3400+ AMD64 system w/ Radeon 9800XT , 1GB RAM etc.. but I'm wondering if AMD will release new CPUs soon?

I could wait until mid april (and buy the new NV40 + Nforce3 250GB + Socket 939 CPU) but If they are releasing it only this summer june-july ++ then i won't wait

so in a nutshell , any idea on LGA and/or Socket 939 release date?

Should be a new LGA chip, the 3700+ at the end of March. 939 chips will be released late april/early may.

I thought the plan was a joint Socket 754/939 release of the Athlon 64 3700+ on 29 March? LGA isn't in AMD's stated plans, as far as I know. I don't think there's a set date on Intel's 775-pin LGA socket as of yet. I would guess mid-April to sometime in May.

Release of the NV40 is officially scheduled for 13 April. So it looks like you should be making your purchase in mid- to late April.

here's the deal I have:

AMD Athlon 64 3400 + (w/ retail heatsink)
Asus KV8 Deluxe
1 Gig OCZ PC4000 Gold Ram (2x512)
80 Gig WD ata133 HD w/ 8 megs cache
Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Gamer
ATI Radeon 9800 XT
Lian Li PC61 Aluminum Case (Black)
Enermax 420 W "NoiseTaker" Powersupply
LiteOn 16x dvd / 52 x cdrw combo Drive (Black)
Lian Li Aluminum CD Cover
3x 80mm Vantec Stealth Fans
Logitech Optical Mouse
LiteOn MM Keyboard
MS Windows XP Pro\\

for 2300$ Canadian (about 1800$us) with shipping (C.O.D) included
I'd still need to buy a Monitor,Speakers and Maybe another mouse/keyboard

I could sell the 9800xt before the NV40 launch and not loose money :) , then get a Nforce3 250GB + a 3700+AMD64

All items retail with 1-3 year warrenty depending on part
All boxes included, ..........

my mistake, didnt mean LGA meant 754. The 3700+ will now be only socket 754. The socket 939 version (ie same 2.4ghz clock speed) will be named the 3800+ (with the insinuation that the dual memory support and whatever tweaks amd has made to the core will be enough to give it a leg up on the 3700+. I dunno, we'll see...) and be released late april early may as part of the socket 939 debut.
