Any moderators around that can edit thread titles?

Been PM'ing different moderators the past few days just to get my FS thread's title changed. No one has replied or edited the title for me.

Why can't we edit the titles ourselves like we can on other forums like Anandtech?

try reporting your own thread with what you ask, that usually allows certain mods to see what you need

First of all, you should have posted this in TTT, not FS/T so I moved. it.

The quickest way to get action is to report the thread and request the title change. That dispatches an email to every FS/T mod and all the admins and starts a thread in the admin forum.

PM'ing mods at random can be a crap shoot, especially on a holiday weekend when some may be away.

Your FS thread is 7-1/2 months old. Is that some kind of badge of honor for you? Do you really think anyone's going to look thru over 400 posts that are mostly just you bumping it?

Yeah, I'd agree with making a new thread after all this time. It's not that the mods are unwilling to help you, but some members get carried away with near daily requests for title changes.

Not that I have a reason to care much, but just my 2 cents...

Doesn't creating more and more duplicate threads just because the title changes kinda cause more database garbage than needed? It definitely clogs up search. If you're looking for a specific item and do a search you would get every thread by the same person until it was sold, inefficient IMO.

I can't stand it when people don't edit sold items out of their titles. Constantly getting screwed by looking at threads with items that are sold, but I don't know until I open the thread. People don't update their titles because it is a PITA here.

Long lasting thread isn't really a badge of honor, just a place to know what you've done in the past all in one place. Over at AnandTech, I have one thread that I re-use for Sale items and one I re-use for WTB. It's simple and I can see my past activity. Every now and again I ditch them and start new.

It's your guy's place, I just stop by. Do what you will.

Yes, but it also allows to track a users history as well. With those forums that allow thread body and title edits, it's hard to keep track of what they sold if they remove it from the body and title.

Sorry. I thought it was forbidden to have multiple FS threads with almost the same items in them. I usually ask for my title to be updated whenever I sell something.

It's only forbidden to have multiple open FS threads. You do have the ability to lock your own threads in FS/T.

Locking one thread only to start another when it's been less than six hours since your last bump, however, is seen as an attempt to circumvent the bump rule.

Ok, so got an infraction for creating a new FS thread. I didn't even realize that my "old" thread was bumped less than six hours ago when I created the new thread.

I told you two posts above that starting a new thread before six hours after your last bump wasn't allowed. It's up to you to pay attention and "realize" your timing.

Ok, so I made a mistake and forgot what you mentioned two posts up and also didn't realize my last bump was less than six hours ago.

I wish all the moderators I had PM'd earlier this past week were as attentive as you. My thread title would have been changed already and I wouldn't have an infraction.

Thanks.

What I always do is..

Report my thread with the report button and put the new thread title in it. And ask nicely for the mod to change it. This has ALWAYS worked for me and wont get you a infraction :)

So it's their fault you didn't pay attention?

I said no such thing. If that's what you get from my post, that's not my intention.

Just posted what I felt at the moment I posted that.
