Just ordered a new parts from newegg and building my computer for the very first time :D

What's bothering me is if any of the parts I got have any incompablities or major problems with each other. Here is the stuff I ordered from newegg:

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Mobo

Is everything good and set to be made? I'm really scare one of the parts can't be mix with the others. And help is appreciated.

It would have been fun to watch you try to install that CPU, but a good thing you checked here first. The only compatibility problems that I can think of would be buying the wrong CPU for the mobo or wrong type of RAM for the mobo.

I take it this is your first time putting together a PC?
 
Yeah, it's my first time. Should I get the 754 socket CPU and a 754 mobo. or 939 with a 939 mobo?
 
socket 939 is somewhat faster and it's the socket that AMD will be supporting for a much longer time supposedly. I would go 939 if you have the cash. It's the higher-end part.
 
Personally I would wait a month or two and get a pci-e board. Thats the way graphics cards are going and they are going fast. It looks like you could use a vid card update too. Soon it will hard to even get a agp vid card let alone a good one. It doesn't really make sense to get a new agp board right now with pci-e so close.
 
what you should do is go with a lower athlon 64, and get a nice card, like a 9800 pro from newegg or an x800. it will make a drastic increase in performance if you are gaming.

I agree with draksia. PCI-e motherboards are right around the corner. If you can wait, do so. Even if the new stuff is above your budget, you'll be able to get the older AGP stuff for a discount.
 
I won't have the money for the new PCI-e graphics card or motherboard.

Hopefully this new system would last me another 2 years. I got this computer (specs in sig) over 2 years ago. It's still some use, but it couldn't play Doom 3, even at the lowest settings.

If you just want to play d3, replace the video card and maby add a bit of ram.
 
if you get a mobo with pci-e you might as well get one that supports DDR-2.
 
I figured i'lll get the AMD 64 3500+ 939s for $288. And I'll get a graphics card by the end of november. Don't want to get the best and the fastest at those high prices right now. Even if they will be the standards in the future. I figured if the old one last me for 2.5 years, the one im going to build will probably last me 2 or so years.

Also, is newegg the only cheapest place to get brand name computer parts?
