Any local stores sell cathodes?

True - most autoparts stores sell them ready wired for 12V ... hell, even Walmart have a limited selection of this type of stuff (and where in American are you not 10 minutes away from a WalMart :) ). Think autoparts not computer parts

I'd rather buy a kit with the inverter and stuff and ready for a molex connection, not looking for a DIY project or anything. Plus, I'd feel like a punk going into an auto store and buying neon lights. :D

the walmart ones are neon lights not cold cathodes, they are alot dimmer, and teh colors are much more washed out looking.

Check local computer stores. A lot of the ones around me have started carrying items like this. Watch the prices, though. They could be pretty cheap but then again they could jack the prices up all to hell.

Anything like Best Buy or Circuit City by any chance? Thanks.

I purchased mine at walmart, it's for automive applications though, I modified it so that it can be used with a wall wart, or a molex.

you can also remove that plastic tube around the walmart ones to make them look like a cathode (the thinner tubes)

just hack the plastic off of the neon and take out the inner glass tube and it saves you some room.
