Hey guys,

I am in the market for an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. I am going to be purchasing one after work today [In the next 4 and a half hours] and I am curious to see what some of the consistent issues that are in existence. I have been researching, and actually it's a good thing that I haven't found many issues [with the exceptions like BF: Vietnam and stuff]. If there are any known fixes for any existing issues, tweaking tips for this specific card, etc.

Any knowledge you guys may have is appreciated. :)

With older VIA KT motherboards I'd be sure to update to the latest bios, and turn off Fast Writes.
My KT400 board was 100% unstable with fast writes on and 100% stable with it off.

Thanks for the information, where are these fast writes at? In the motherboard bios? Or the ATI Control Panel? Going to look for the latest motherboard bios update right now...

The only thikg you need to know is there too good to pass up at 200 bucks!

yeaha, i love mine, no big problems, a reformat is best if you can afford one

Alrighty, I'm running on it right now... it installed like a champ, and I also got Rage3d installed too. I think I'm going to have to disable powerstrip though, because it can't even detect the clock rates on the card. :(

I still can't find this fast writes stuff, where is it?

About to go play a game, still looking on where I can control AA / AF. Wish me luck!

Their
They're

Know the difference.:);)

Should fast writes be disabled for my ATi 9800 pro cause it seems like thats the general concensus

Welp, not doing a reformat... I just did one about a week ago, I don't want to have to do it again. :p Everything is running like a champ with AA/AF turned on. :p

since I didn't see anybody answering the question about fast writes...it should be in the BIOS so just restart, go into it and see if you can find it...it will probably be under an AGP section or advanced chipset options
