Working on a rig that has a Sapphire 7950 and during browsing it flickers, cuts to black for a couple of seconds.
THEN if you game with it, it runs fine.......Tried beta drivers, tried WHQL drivers, tried MSI afterburner, tried upping voltage, tried OCing the card.
In all cased it games perfectly but drives the user crazy while trying to use it for light weight tasks.
1000 K pwr. supply, so no seeming stress there as it should only get worse when gaming.
Help, help, help, help, and help.
Thanks

I don't think Overclocking the card wouldn't do anything to resolve a problem like that. I wonder if you are on a 120hz monitor?

I googled your error and found this on youtube. It may or may not resolve your issue. The guy in the video enabled overdrive in the Catalyst control center.

Are you running your system a particular way that could be causing issues or some software in the background?

List all your computer specs next time so users can provide you better support.

My setup does that, along with a lot of other people that run similar cards. Though I've never had mine black out for seconds. While browsing I just get the line flickers once in a while if I scroll down with the mouse wheel. Kind of annoying, but not enough to really bother me. Just enough to wonder WTF.

I've also read that it's due to idle clocks being set too low, so this thread could help a lot of others.

Per majinsnake I am going to list my specs.
Gigabyte 990Fxa-ud3 board. Generic Corsair ram, 16 gigs.
8350 With Hyper 212 EVO
1000 watt pwr. Supply, Rosewill but tested and is solid.
1 WD RE4 1TB drive, 1x1.5 Seagate drive.
HAF 912 case with plenty of fans.
Card idles at 31 to 37C depending on OC, but I have only added a tiny boost and +3% on the voltage cap.
Tried CCC, Trixx, beta and WHQL drivers. Never falters when gaming.
Not at home but I have a 27in ASUS monitor, low end costing about $289.00 a year or so ago.

My monitor is recognized as 60hz and I leave it at that but will check the specs carefully when I get home. Next idea is Radeon Pro, create a profile and lock it to 60hz that way.
It is a short drive, but it is driving me nuts.

Well when you get a chance...look at that youtube video and test the settings mentioned in it. If you had not done so.

If you want, you can report it to AMD driver support if you feel it is a driver issue. I have actually reported things to them. The last issue I reported was when I had two cards in crossfire, but they weren't listed as full speed in G-PUZ. I had ULPS disabled. The bus-interface was listed at x1 on the second card. A few months later, a driver update fixed it. I guess I was not the only one who also reported it.

Basically, anyone who thought they were getting full-speed on their crossfire cards. Weren't getting any. I don't think this is the same "Frame Pacing" feature that they added in their drivers at some point. Their's the patch listed in the link below.

Need to raise the "Power Control settings" slider to +20% in the Graphics OverDrive section of the Performance tab of AMD Catalyst Control Center.

If your monitor goes black and says something about the wrong frequency I can't help you there. AMD needs to fix that annoying bug!

Nothing yet. Will try the new drivers and then I will move the card to a secondary rig to test.

Tested in a completely different rig. NG. Removed all Catalyst Control Center NG. Run with voltage at 1.3 and it seems OK but that is too *&^% high for everyday use.
Going to try an RMA.
Hope it works, bought it here and have the paperwork but it is a Sapphire and they don't have the best reputation along with having to pay them to deal with their own RMA.
