Any advice before I buy stuff?

It's been a long time since my last use of water to cool my PC and there are a lot new choices. What I would like to go for, is lots of cooling with the possibility of adding a TEC later, but ultra-quiet for now. I'd like to have to think about whether the PC is powered on or not because it makes so little noise.

Let me know how this sounds:

Radiator:
MCR320-QP-K $56.95

Fans (I'll probably build a cheap shroud):
yate loon 120's

Pump:
laing D5

Blocks:
D-tek fuzion
EK-FC8800GTS Full Cover Waterblock for nVidia 8800 GTS $110

Reservoir (yea i'm splurging)
XSPC Passive 250mm Reservoir - $70

Also, I am probably going with this case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811233001

Do these parts sound like they could work well together? eg. no mixing of metals or known issues such as pairing up blocks that do well under high flow vs low?
Also the one question I had after seeing posts about koolance and dd 8800 waterblocks is does the EK make proper contact with the ram chips?

Not bad choices really.

Get the SWIFTECH MCR QP radiator over the GTS.

I'd recommend getting YATE-LOON fans instead of either of those (as their static pressure is higher than the scythes, and cost much less). If you HAVE to go with those, get the Scythes. Yates are on sale for about 3.50 at Jab-tech.com, and around 5$ at petras tech shop and frozencpu.com

Get a Laing D5 pump instead (either the Danger Den D5, or Swiftech MCP655, they're both the same thing) of the iwaki and save some $$s. The flow is MORE Than enough, and a heck of a lot quieter.

IMO the Dtek Fuzion waterblock is better than the Apogee GT. Most will agree with this too.

As for the reservoir, it's Aluminum. Using this res will be alright, provided no metal from it is touching anything else in the case. Corrosion isn't an issue unless there's an electrical path between the dissimilar metals. Just as a battery doesn't supply current without it's poles jumped, this voltaic cell (mixing metals MAKES a DIY battery so to speak) won't be an issue if there's no path between it and some copper. Use nylon screws, with rubber washers to isolate it. Remmeber, copper waterblocks are connected to the ground of the computer, which is also connected to the side of the case. The metal part of this res must not touch the case, or anything metal inside it. And I know I'll be flamed for what I just said.

The EK blocks are GREAT. I've got one myself, it touches the RAM perfectly.

Other than the precaution for some metal-isolation, everything seems to be in order. Make sure to get Masterkleer tubing too, it really helps prevent leaks as it's so hard to get over the barbs (and ergo, almost impossible to get off :D).

Jab-tech, Petras tech shop, Frozencpu, Performance-pcs are all great places to shop... I've listed them in personal preference order (best on the left to, still pretty damn good on the right)

Thanks for the response.

I could go with yate loon fans i'm not too picky and i've heard good things about them. I was actually going to mount the fans in the shroud and have them suck through the radiator, i'm not sure if static pressure would matter as much or if it's even measured the same under those conditions. Loons > those by price though.

The D5 pump instead of the iwaki. hmm. If I went with a D5, i'd have to get the speed controller version which is the same price as the iwaki ($100 vs $104). From everything i've read (and the specs) the iwaki is just far superior in almost all respects. The D5 would be nice because you just plug it in, but i could live with the iwaki on a relay. I think it all comes down to noise level and heat generation for me. If the iwaki makes too much heat to sit inside the case or is noticeably louder, i would go with the D5. IF either could sit properly mounted in the case without noise or too much heat, i'd go with the iwaki.

The res. i'd probably want to mount externally and follow your advice with the screws and washers.

EK block good :> check.

Masterkleer tubing - check.

Oh as far as the dtek fuzion, for some reason i missed it thanks! is there a direct comparison? I'll do a search and see what I can come up with myself, i'm not sure i like the way the inlet is in the center with the pattern that they chose to cut though :>
Intuitively it would seem with that pattern if the inlet is in the center and the outlet in the top right corner, the other three corners would get less flow than the top right. It certainly looks very well built and finished though.

The Iwaki pumps are not known for being quiet. That pump will be WAY louder than the D5.
Other than that Arcygenical pretty much summed things up nicely. (no flame here :D )

Definitely get the yate loon fans... The specs are within 10% of the scythes, regardless of the application. They're great fans.

Where do you live? The D5 is 75$ at jab-tech.com, about 30$ less than the Iwaki, and at least 6dba quieter.

The Dtek Fuzion is a great block. It's actually in three layers. Flow goes from the middle to all corners, up into the 2nd layer, and then out one of the corners... It's hard to explain, so take a look HERE.

There really arn't that many direct shootouts between it and the apogee, just lots of user testing and mini-reviews. Go over to xtremesystems.org and search for the word "Fuzion review" or something on their forums. It beats the apogee by 1-3c regularly.

Sweet ok, i'll update the first post to reflect the change with the fans, pump and block.
That picture of the fuzion block you posted makes things much clearer thanks!
