Any advantage to using an AMD platform for crossfire?

[thinkdifferent]

Hi,

I had heard that using an AMD platform made for better perforance in crossfire. Is there any truth to this?

[risqu3]

just the only thing is that adding up to 4 seperate 4870's in crossfire. where as with intel mobo's you'll only be able to reach that with 2x 4870 X2's

[thinkdifferent]

so basically, no difference

There might even be a performance decrease thanks to AMD chips being slower.

WAT? Seriously!?!

yeah but premature drivers mean quad crossfirex actually slows you down

I think the Foxconn Blackops has threee 16x pci slots so you could run 3 48xx at full speed couldnt you?

With Nvidia playing hardball in allowing Intel access to their SLI technology, Intel may just simply push Crossfire. I don't know which technology is better or worse.

To be honest w/you, I think Intel is more worried about Nvidia than they are about AMD/ATI. There has been scuttlebutt of Nvidia getting into the CPU business.
