Any 60+ year old Gamers here?

Oh yeah I am wearing progressives. It was weird at first, but I got used to it quickly. They are awesome.

The biggest issue when you are over 60 is finding time to MOVE your body. Being stationary for hours is bad for your body. You don't notice it when you are young. I still remember going to a LAN party in San Diego with my young son at the time. I was in my mid 40's. My son was probably 10. I started to play at 7pm when it started and played until it was over in the next morning at 7am. I even outlasted my son who fell asleep around 3am. There is no way I can do that today. You get stiff and your body will ache now, instead of recovering quickly when you were young.

I retired at 65 back in May 2020. Had to find something to do so I recondition used laptops and sell them on the side. It's amazing what people throw away, when the laptops just need a little TLC to bring them back to life. You'll start to see a mass sell off of old laptops that can't run windows 11 in the next months, even though they can. So that is what I do now - I work on laptops and play PC games.

You need a Valari Pillow in your life Xbox controller and a Bendyfit Bar.

I don't understand the bizarre vanity issue people have with glasses and never will.
2 eyes are supposed to be better than 4. I only got glasses because the company I work for wouldn't allow me to work until I could see what I was doing lol..

Now I have eagle eyes.. crazy.

I'm 56 play Apex mostly until a non sucky Battlefield comes out. Tech has become boring to me which saddens me.

44 now been gaming since 1993 on the early Pentium chips with I believe windows 3.1 at the time where my first game I owned was the original Doom, the original Tribes, the original Unreal Tournament etc.. Ever since then I have been a hardcore FPS player having my own clan since 1999 playing competitively and have hit as high as top 3% ranked and top 50 on leaderboards in a few games. Hopefully I'll never grow out of gaming, let's see.

What was the first multiplayer game you played? And did it blow your mind? Mind was Diablo 1 and I couldn't believe I was playing with other people on dial-up. Really was an Awakening how awesome it could be.

Multiplayer... as in between different locations modem etc? Not even sure what it was anymore. I had to look up the earliest games with modem support to see what it might have been: Falcon, Battlechess, 688 Attack Sub, Populous I played all of those. There could have been something else that wasn't a major studio that I had played on a modem first but I can't think of what it might be at the moment. Things didn't get truly wild and huge until Duke Nukem, by then everyone I knew was in and playing on PC. But it was definitely the wild west getting some of these games to work. Disconnects and connection errors constantly but it was always wild when any of those games worked. It was sometimes an all day project just getting some games to connect and work, more fun fighting with the tech and trying to be one of the first to experience it than it was to play the game a lot of the time. But getting to play was always the icing on the cake.

Yeah I remember trying to play Baldur's Gate 1 multiplayer on dial-up through the gaming portal website heat.net. it was an effort in frustration if we had a good 20 minutes connectivity we would thank God. Was always such a struggle on dial-up. I remember the latency bug duping gold in Diablo 1. Fun times.

Ultima Online on dialup. Not a good experience, at all.

These previous thread brings back a memory I had with my young son. One of the games I really enjoyed was Orcs and Humans the first one. I believe it came out in early 90's. It also had multiplayer capabilities, so I connected a serial cable to my PC and to my son's PC. We played for an hour or so, but my son was getting his ass kicked by the old man but it did not last long. Once he figured out the strategy of the game, he was now kicking my ass with better reflexes.

Looking back, hard to believe I used an old serial cable to play multiplayer, then moving to using a local network setup using Ethernet cable playing the first DOOM.

You wonder if all those feel good Nostalgia trip Facebook pages actually do consume old Saturday morning cartoons from the 80s.
Groups like Rerun the 80s.

I never investigated them some of the groups you need to pay to join no joke.
Maybe to fund their Utz cheeseball binge.

61, retired, that means we get the toys :D

Thank you!

My kids gave me the seat as a Christmas gift! I added the peripherals (Honeycomb Alpha yoke, FlightSimGear TPM-Flaps-Trim, Logitech pedals. Octavi IFR1, ButtKicker GamerPlus).

The display is one of the first large curved 4k screens produced by Samsung (2015) it's 87" diagonal.

With BF6 there definitely seems to be a demarcation in taste between old and young gamers.

The developers are going to have a great time trying to appeal to both, lol.

I am not physically 60 years old but I feel it.

I remember breaking code and hardware on original Nintendo and first play station.

and breaking Operating systems and processes on 1992 apple macintosh.

Good Camp fire stories..

Edit: Sorry for Semi duplicate post. BUT BUT

that just reminded me of 3D/2d Sprite tanks and some 1v1 artillery game were you choose different ammo's to lob at each other, what was that??

67 retired been building and gaming PC since 98 mostly FPS and a few racing and flight sim games. Currently enjoying BF6 with a bunch of old EVGA TCL gamer buddies. Consensus is BF is back. May inspire an upgrade but I getting 120 avg fps with decent settings on my 3090 Ti FTW 3/5800x3d /x570 system. Nice to see old dudes still rock join me on EA app Abihai619 or send invite in game and PM me here for Discord invite. Nothing like a full squad.

Thought I was old being in my late 30s lol.

I've been replaying all the Resident Evil games (both the classics and remakes) in anticipation for RE9.

Turning 60 this year and still gaming like a madman. After work, weekends, any time I can fit it in.

Favorite is Fallout series with Elder Scrolls and Starfield 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Though I have to give a shout out to the Horizon Seies as well. Who would think we needed a game battling robotic animals?

I'd definitely have trouble installing massive plastic wrap circles with duct tape, but I'd give it a shot to get fresh potatoes!
