Are these good?? I am ordering an Antec case 1080 and it comes with this PS... is it acceptable for Dual 2800+MP's 1 CD-Rom, and 4HD's??

you should have no problem with your setup
 
but for a dualie? i dont remember the general rule for dualies, but might need something 500+ ish. I'd look into that. 430W probably won't do it.
 
I've got two, no problems with either one. Probably sufficient for your needs, though neither one that I have is pushing a dual processor system. Considering that a 250W PSU is what came in my Compaq with a 2600+, and that it handled (after upgrading myself) an AIW 9800 Pro, 2 hard drives, and a CD-ROM with no problems whatsoever, I'd think that a quality 430W PSU would be sufficient for your needs.
 
I ran a fairly bare dual system on a 300w Enermax for a while until my Vantec Stealth 520 came. It was a pair of 1.8 applebreds in a K7D with 512 ram and 1 hard drive. So it's not impossible to run on a sub-500w supply, but for 2800s you should be looking for a supply with a strong +12v rail. It's less about the total wattage rating and more about the distribution of that power. 20a on the 12v isn't bad, but it's not very much really. Look at the latest Enermax Noisetakers, which have dual 12v rails, any of the Topower rebadges (Tagan, OCZ, Vantec), or the Fortron/Sparkles. All of those have good solid power for you dualie system.

it probably going be enuf. I have it on my single 2500 Barton w/8 fans running, sofar no problem yet. You probably seen my post about blowing luke warm air from the PSU, so ppls confirmed, its normal, no need to worry about. So Im a happy camper now. :)
 
i have a truepower 430... 6 case fans... one dvd-rom, one DVD-RW, one 80gb 7200, one 36gb raptor and a 9800xt...

works great... it has has much more left to give

ATX12V v1.3, ATX12V v2.0, ATX-GES or EPS12V?
what does the mobo call for?

there might be advantages to be had with a splitplane EPS12V depending on the board
but youve already ordered, so hope for the best ;)
 
I think you'll be fine, even for a dually system. My friend runs a pretty decent system on a 200W PSU and has never had any problems.

I run the antec truepower 430 in both of my machines with no stablity issues

Machine 1 - Lian-Li PCV2000B case, Soyo Dragon 333 Ultra Platinum, AMD 2400XP, 3 x 512MB DDR266, ATI 9800pro, SB Live 5.1, Adaptec IEEE1394 PCI, Western Digital 60GB, Promise Fasttrak SX6000 with six Western Digital 250GB in RAID5 (128MB Dimm on board), Phillips USB webcam, ADS Dual Link Drive Kit 1394/USB with Western Digital 80GB(connected via 1394), Sony DCRIP55 camcorder connected via USB, 3 80mm case fans, and a Pioneer DVR-A06 DVD-/+RW drive.

Machine 2 - Antec P160 case, Intel i865 mobo, P4 2.8E, 2x 512MB Dual Channel, Chaintech FX5950ultra, SB Audigy2, Western Digital 80GB, two Western Digital 120GB, two Speeze 1394/USB Drive cages with Western Digital 120GB Drives (connected via 1394), Nyko Airflow USB Dual Analog Joypad, one 120mm case fan, and a DVD/CDRW combo drive (samsung sm-352 I think).

Both machines run fine. Machine 1 is on 24/7, with machine 2 primarily used for gaming and dvd ripping.

Superb PSU. Got two myself. Been running almost two years straight now.
 
The TruePower 430 may have been superb when it first came out a couple of years ago. But although it still holds its own today, it's getting a little long on the tooth. And the "430" was rated at an internal temperature of only 25°C (which requires an ambient temperature below 15°C/59°F just to achieve) - which means that the TruePower 430 actually delivers only 285 real watts under normal operating temperatures.

Alas, that method of rating is typical of most first-tier PSU brands. The el-cheapo brands use power ratings that are quite similar to the PMPO ratings used by many cheap speaker manufacturers - a "400W" no-name power supply unit doesn't really deliver 400 watts, even at an internal temperature of 25°C. And because of such corner-cutting, a no-name "400W" PSU actually delivers only about 240 to 250 watts under the same testing criteria used by most first-tier PSU makers. Which means that the generic "400W" will very well produce fewer than 170 real watts under normal operating temperatures. That's less power than even a good "300W" PSU, at that! :eek:
