Hey, is this PSU any good? It's freakin cheap for an SLI supply, but it has dual rails and its an Antec. Could someone with experience on this one help me out? I'm thinking about picking one up, but not sure whether to go with this or splurge on a better one...

Is it good. Yes. Is it the best. No. Will it work for your system? Well not sure without knowing the system. Is it the one in your sig?
 
Alright, sorry for not specifying.

Before with my 6800GT I could raise the FSB to 220 before it got unstable (power issues), now with the 7800 GTX it's sometimes unstable at all stock.

Ideally, I would love to run a 237 FSB and get my A64 up to 2.6... and eventually have 7800GTX SLI.

So would this PSU be okay for 7800 SLI and an OCed A64??
 
Yes it should be fine. However if you really want more control of your system with your OC you may want to look at the True Control II. It has adjustable pots. Beyond that the tighter the line regulation you get the better chances of succesfully OCing you have and the TPII and TCII are both 3% while say the PC Power and Cooling is 510SLI is 1% and the spec is 5%.
 
PCP&Cs are too damn expensive... but on the other hand I just got this crappy 430 a few months ago after my old one blew up and it's inadequate...

If I keep on this route and keep changing my PSU out every time I upgrade it will cost a lot more in the longrun than if I shell out now... hmmm </inner_monologue>

Maybe I should just do it :p
 
Well keep your eye on the FS/FT forums around I found a 510 for a guy the other day for $130.
 
i have a antec truepower 2.0 550watt and it runs great for me allowing me to OC my video card and my CPU at the same time. But my system is less demanding than yours
 
Well I took the plunge when my computer starting locking up in games last night... installed the new PSU, found that it was actually a video driver problem :rolleyes: At least that gave me an excuse to buy it.

Sadly, my CPU still won't overclock... problem narrowed down to my CPU or my memory now. :(

I like it, it's quiet at least!

btw, the fan rpm is shown by the pwmic. max i've seen it during hot days is 1100rpm. and sorry for the glare, lol

holy shit, nice voltage on the 12v there... how do you hook the multimeter up to the rail? where do you put the prongs?
 
use any black ground wire for the black probe and then use the red probe for whatever rail you're testing-
yellow - 12v
red - 5v
orange- 3.3v

for 12v1 you can use any 4 pin molex, sata or the 24 pin. for the 12v2 use the 4 pin atx connector which is a little tough to get to and still show in a picture but its identical on my psu. my second psu is a little higher, 12.02 i think but still the same tolerance from idle to load.

this might be a little more in depth, i can't find the one from XS, thought i had it booked....
