Hi all..

I have an Antec SP-500 Smart Power 2.0 PSU. Here are the stats for the PSU.

http://www.antec.com/specs/SP500_spe.html

Do you think I would have any issues using it to run this?

ATI X1900XTX
AMD X2 4200+ (overclocked to 2.7Ghz at 1.5 volts)
2 SATA Hard Drives
2 120MM LED Fans (runs of motherboard headers)
Zalman CNPS7700-Cu CPU fan (runs of motherboard headers)
DVD/RW (Dual layer)

I went to the eXtreme PSU calculator...and it tells me 595 Watts is recommended. Although I'm unsure of one of the fields, PSU Utilization, which is at 100%.

I'm thinking I need 600 watts...but if I lower the PSU Utilization, the recommeded goes down. Does the PSU Utilization always remain at 100% for normal PSU use? I also noticed that CPU Utilization is set for 100% also...the receommeded also goes down when that drops.

Thanks for any help...

Bob

That "eXtreme PSU calculator" is pretty inaccurate. It doesn't give you amperage readings. I don't think you'll have a problem with all that stuff. However, you can get a better PSU with more capability on the +12V. It will help your overclocking and give you more headroom for upgrading.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try out the X1900XTX with it and see what happens.

Doesn't the sp2 500w have 34A on the 12V rails? I would imagine that would be enough for your setup. Anyone else want to chime in?
