antec sonata?

I've been trying to research this same issue-I have a chance to get another Antec which only specs "Front USB/IE1394 ports"
Some posts I've seen claim the ports themselves don't matter, ie the port isn't USB 1 or USB 2, just the pinouts and what type of USB on the mainboard it's connected to?
In another the person said that they compared the 2 "types" of ports on an older Antec and a newer one and they were the same even though the specs differentiated between USB 1/2.
I'd be curious to know the real deal b/4 I buy.

The one I'm looking at on sale is the "PlusView 1000AMG"-are the USB ports on that model 1.0 or 2.0?

TIA,

Mike G

i was under the impression that the ports themselves are no different.. just whatever your motherboard header is.

Right, but if the headers on the other end of those ports are of the wrong shape, or don't carry the extra common ground you might not be able to plug them into a USB 2.0 header.

There-in lies the problem...

i have an antec sonata, and had to remove the rear fan, and put in a front so i dont have anymore of those little rubber tab things. i looked at all the local hardware stores and cant find them, i also checked the antec site and dont see them. since you obvioulsy work with antec how would i go about getting some more of these?

My front USB ports xfer data from my usb flash drive just as fast as the ones in the back.

I went to my local Fry's. They carry the lovely Sonata case so I can get a good gape at it. Curious about something. Newegg lists it as supporting 2 120mm fans.

I like this case a lot and will need from USP. My old antec doesn't have them and I don't want to fabricate a panel.

Where/how do you install the 120mm intake fan on that case? And would running that case with....

Retail AMD 64 3200+
Saphire 9800pro
WD 80gb SE drive
generic dvd/cdrom drive.'

Would that provide sufficent cooling for that basic system?

AFAIK, it goes in the front bottom between the drive cage and the bezel... i think there is also room above it for another maybe, but someone with it should answer that. Also to anyone that has it.. im thinking about getting it... whats your opinion?

The fan mounts on the HDD cage. It mounts on the back of it. I have read about people doing a slight modification to mount the fan in the front for more efficiency. For my application it is fine mounted on the back. I would post up some pics but I am at work. :) If I ever add some more Hard Drives I may try to mount the fan in the front. The added 120mm fan moves a lot more air than with the single fan that comes with the case. I can feel the air sucked in thru the front intake.

That blue light is awful blinding, I want to switch it off but it is too cool. :D
