Antec sonata - crap for cooling?

I can understand why its such a popular case, what with the nice PSU thrown in. But how much do you pay for the sound proofing? Is the airflow in this case totally stifled?
 
well the airflow in the case isn't bad, my case temps are about 34c (yeah high but it's warm in my place) with only 1 120mm rear exhaust fan that is tied in to the "fan only" molex connector coming out of the psu which runs it at 5 or 7v I believe. So the only case fan I have right now is the rear exhaust running undervolted but very quiet and that is getting me my 34c case temp. There is a bracket for another 120mm fan towards the front of the case as well should you want it (I've ordered a thermaltake stealth fan to throw in there and run undervolted so I'll update this thread when I have it in with the increase in noise and what differences if any it has made in the case temp). Very nice case though imo
 
My motherboard temperature is reported as 27*C with a 23*C room temperature. All I've got is the standard 120mm fan at the back running on 7-volt mode. I love the quiet of the Sonata and the temps are pretty good too! :)
 
I've ordered one for the new system! Seems like a right bargain - cheap, quiet, looks decent. You'd usually pay loads for that sorta spec.

I suppose I can just add more cooling later if needs be :)
 
The included 120MM fan is rated for 79CFM I believe at full speed. I wasn't too happy with the temperatures I was seeing using the "fan only" connectors so I have it connected to a regular power connector. The case is by no means loud set up this way, though there is a fair bit of air turbulence due to the grill.
 
So cut out the grill. Should only take a couple minutes with a dremel.
