Antec Skeleton now available

Looks like if you accidentally tip it over, it will start taking off.

I love it!

Wow, $180?!? What makes this any more special than one of those High Speed Tech PCs..

It's probably priced this way becuase they don't expect to sell a lot. They have to get their R&D money back. If you don't like it don't buy it, simple as that. Atleast they are trying different things. How many other makers follow the standard metal box format.
I'm not going to get this case but I do like them trying out new ideas.

Good thing this is made by Antec. They seem to have lots of sales on things specially through the egg. At $180 I wont bite but < 100 and perhaps I will.

First thought: Wow! Great outside the box thinking, looks pretty cool. On closer inspection it kinda looks like a uber test bench. While this might be a great display PC for a Mom and Pop comp shop to get attention on a counter top, I would be worried for home use with pets attracted to a warm spot and getting zapped like the kitty from National Lampoons Chistmas Vacation. Might look pretty sick if someone wall mounted it though...

Hopefully this is just the launch price, and eventually that $180 will come down to saner levels.

I don't understand this case.

edit: Not relevant to this thread, but the P183 makes me cry. (@SPCR)

I been looking forward to this case, but at $200+ Shipped I will keep waiting!

Great idea and I give Kudos for Antec for trying something new, but this case will more then likely end up being a niche product. This would be an ideal case (using the term case loosely of course) for someone who tests hardware on a regular basis, and as a result needs to swap out parts an awful lot. Nice design, but too expensive.

I had planned on getting this, but for the price I'll pass- it would be such a pain in the ass to get my rad mounted on it.

I was expecting this case to debut at less than $100, I don't see any reason that its selling for so much especially sense most of it is plastic. I don't mind the plastic as I think its the right material in the right place. Hopefully its just the retailers marking it up because its new and the price will drop fairly quick.

I'd get this case, but I already have a $200+ case, which took me a long time to convince myself to spend that much for just a case.

If it were around the 100 or less price mark, It'd be mine. Although it needs to come with a giant ESD bag for LAN party travel!

I haven't read any reviews on it and haven't seen it in person. Are we sure that it is plastic and not a coated metal structure. I would bet it is plastic, but the thought crossed my ind the other day as I picked up my cell, a basic moto razr and the back is a silver coated metal that looks similar to this case.

I'll also liken this price of it to the pricing of sports cars. Trust me there are some really ugly sports cars out there. Companies price them to get their R&D back plus some profit. They have projections based on the number they plan to produce, plus manufacturing costs and what they want to make as a profit. This is probably why it's priced so high. They know a small amount of people will buy it, even it is was priced lower. True they would probably sell more if it lower priced, but would those added sales make up the difference. They would have to sell 9 units at $100 to equal selling 5 units at $180. Say they sell 5000 of these, that means they would have to sell 9000 at $100. I don't know how many they are making but I am sure they have done the price per sales formula. They just don't pick a price out of a hat. Plus they can call it exclusive. These will also stick out at LAN's.

Antec had a good idea, now it's up to someone else to improve on their idea and make something cooler looking and cheaper... maybe Rosewill (ugh) will do it. Maybe I'll do it...

And somehow ensure that it doesn't collect dust and hair and is vulnerable to static electricity?

most awful case in history (also overpriced too)
I rather want to buy disney case instead this thing lol
