Antec Skeleton Case - craziest looking commercial case ever!

i want one.

i hope the materials used is proportional to the price.

I'd rather have a self-built bench station, and mount some 120mm fans on it... That's just me.

what you see here, is the future - the next push by manufacturers.

pioneers include WD, with the RaptorX

seemingly, all new parts being manufactured by various manufacturers have emphasized aesthetics.

why not an open-air tower; with each component a piece of art.

now that sounds to me like a good Idea

I fail to see how that can possibly get airflow as good as an enclosed case. It still looks really cool though.

Yeah, one bump and it's all over. It's a fancy tech station, and that's it -- almost no one (reasonable) would use this thing for a day to day setup... plus they're sure to charge some insane price. No thank you.

lol what a load of rubbish, this is almost as bad as those cases they were selling on newegg that looked like an aeroplane

Looks kinda cool I guess. The novelty might wear off eventually but at least its something different instead of just putting LEDs on everything.

I like it, it has a small footprint and is sure to get alot of comments from people who see it. I think I wouold use that for an everyday case for my computer. if done proerly I dont think it will have a problem with wire management. Only thing I would change from the one pictured is adding a support for the PCI devices to screw into but I am sure they will think of that before final release.

Yeap, as long as the price is right I would definatly get it.

if they would make a clear acrylic or glass sections to fit onto the sides, then there wouldnt be much dust, which would make the case very unique

definately would want to pick one up.

Like the design and layout. Pretty sweet case.

I've been wondering how long it would take for the big guys to start releasing "open" type cases. I would like to see one with movable fans that are supported by a movable metal enclosure, like some lamps. That way you could posistion the fans for optimal cooling.
For people concerned about airflow, there is no need to worry. the only reason airflow is a huge concern is beause in a conventional case you are trying to remove the hot air being relased by the internal fans and heatsinks. This case doesn't need airflow because the heat is being dissapated into the surrounding air. At most you would need one or two 120mm fans at a low speed to keep a constant airflow. In fact this design could result in a quieter overall case because fans wouldn't have to work so hard to remove heat. It also allows for larger heatsinks and fans, meaning slower fan speeds and great efficiency at removing heat.
I say bring it on, I love the design and concept.

Also that looks to be missing some standoffs (and room to put them) normal ATX boards will not fit...

I can do this a lot cheaper and get a better result. Slightly more ghetto.
Materials:
1) motherboard tray $15 or free if you have a cheap computer case
2) 18" box fan $20 at home depot.

Place the box fan on top of the motherboard tray. You should prop the fan up on something so that it is several inches above the motherboard tray. Viola! Turn the fan on to low, medium, or high depending on your cooling need. Some people say they get better temps than water cooling!

Looks like Kyle has expressed some interest in this case along with a July/August release.
I for one am interested for my main PC, I been looking for something smaller and this is just right. I wont even be swapping out parts alot or anything. I just think it looks cool as hell and its alot smaller than most anything alse for a full ATX format.

Check out http://www.pcper.com/comments.php?nid=5736#Scene_4 For some updated pics of what could be a final version (has power/rest buttons, USB, Firewire, and even a front E-Sata) and for view of theMini ITX version, you have to look behind the larger one but it is kinda cute sitting there next to its big brother.

Where on earth would that fit at a normal home computer desk, and how many other CD drives will fit in there?

Looks highly unusable, ugly, and kind of reminds me of those garden furniture kits you can get....just needs a parasol sticking out the top.

The mini-ITX version would be interesting for something like a D201GLY2 or D945GCLF build.

Good thing I don't have a normal computer desk :D
