I have an oldie but goodie PSU in the Antec Signature 850, have never had a problem with it, but i'm moving my vid card setup to crossfired 6970's. The ones i've ordered, MSI 6970 Lightning have dual 8 pin power inputs. My S850 came with 2 8's and 2 6's. I know the vid card comes with 6 to 8 adapters, I usually try to avoid adapter spaghetti, would this be ok as long as I dont OC the card until after I grudgingly update my PSU? Something you would do?

You're probably fine plugging the 6-pin into the 8-pin directly. Signature has thick cables, like most good power supplies, so it ain't going to be an issue. MSI used 8-pin to be safe with people running them on cheap power supplies with really thin cables that can't handle much more load than the 75W of 6-pin. Unless MSI somehow wants the last 2 pins getting power, it'll be fine. You're nowhere to needing an 8-pin instead of a 6-pin with ANY 6970 below 1GHz.

Your PSU is good. No need to update it.
