ANTEC Performance Plus Case

They were REAL popular a while back on here.

Now that 70% of the users on here have had or known someone who has had them, it's kinda passe. Also there are no fan filters on them so you have to either buy them or make them yourself.

I went with the antec solutions because of the 120's for cooling and the included washable fan filter for the intake.

It suits my needs, is smaller, has as many drive bays, and is CHEAPER. May not suit your tastes color wise, but you can't go wrong with basic black :)

Granted I did mod it a bit with my old splatter window idea I came up with a few years ago and splizzat made popular. I am also going to put some lights in, and some EL in the front perhaps.... havent decided 100% yet. Waiting on my new desk to get in too... so once all that hits I will be GOOD TO GO.
 
I have that case, and its quite good. It actually does come with a fan filter for the two front 80mm fans, so you would only need to buy/make one for the side intake. It isn't the lightest thing ever and can get pretty loud if you fill up all the fan mounts with full-speed fans, but a good case overall imo.
 
Love em. Even after having Lian LI and Coolermaster, I won't go back. So roomy and moddable. Heavier then fuck, but everything has a drawback. This is "Blue Fantasy"

always go with antec, i love mine and its 3 years old if not older. i got it when it first came out (not the performance plus though, just the normal old one), and as soon as i got it all the pre-mod fuckers got to it and it got raped :-( but mine is still orignal and sexi as hell
 
The 1080 has a newer faceplate in comparison to the 1030, it also has front USB and firewire jacks as well as structural struts and Antecs special special Metallic grey is only on the 1030's

I'm looking for a new server case, something to hold (and keep good airflow on) about 6 harddrives, and like the quality/simplicity of the Antecs I've had in the past.

Looks like the 1030 might be next on my list!

I have one, and would not buy another. I dislike the 3.5" drive cages. If you have a lot of 3.5" drives it becomes a mess, especially if your MBs IDE slots are close to the drives. I prefer the Lian Li 3.5 cage, the newer Antec 3.5 slots (the ones the SLK3700 BQE linked earlier this thread, and the Sonata have), or even the Enermax 3.5 setup (as they can be reverse mounted I believe) over the Antec 10X0 series cages.

The newer models may have front fan filters, but I had to dremel the grill out to install filters on my case. The front bezel makes it very mod unfriendly if you plan on doing something to the front. Also, it takes serious moding if you want to use anything other than two 80mm standard depth fans as front intakes.

Personally, I would use the SLK3700 BQE:

It is the same cost as the antec, but has free shipping rather than $15 like the antec's do. Very nice case as well.
