Im in the process of building an i5 system

i5 2500K
MSI P67 G43 Board
8 GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600
Agility 3 60 GB SSD

The Video Card will be purchased with BF3 on or around Oct 25th.
For now I will be using my old 8600 GT since my 8900 fried :(

So My brother and I have 2 old (original) Antec performance cases that we will be moding.
The current Setup is
2X 80MM in the front
(1) 92MM and (1) 80MM on the side
(1) 120MM in the back.

The Mod will be as follows.
2X 92mm fans in the front - blowing IN
(1) 120mm and (1) 80mm on the side - blowing IN
(1) 120mm in the back - blowing OUT
(2) 120mm on the top - blowing OUT

The Case is Black and has some wear and tear in the exterior.
The exterior will get coated with (Di noc) 3M carbon fiber look.
The interior will be primed and then painted a glossy red.

My brother works for a Metal Shop and they have a Water Jet cutter.
If his boss lets us use it we will cut out the BF3 soldier logo on the side of the case
and put on the acrylic backing.

Also all of the wires will be hiden from view and also to help the air flow through
the case.

Yes I know this is over kill and yes I know I could buy a case, but you could blame Gromit and SuperDemon for showing me pictures of their machines (specially their servers)

The Original computer AMD 64 1st Gen

Adding 2x 120mm fans on the top

Wire Mangement

Just wanted to make sure it woud all fit before painting the case

2x 120mm fans & 2x 92mm fans added infront

Looks good! Just a suggestion, I would cut another wire management hole under the front panel connectors of your mobo tray. So you aren't stretching those front panel wires across the mobo, it will clean it up a bit more.

@ mannymann

Thanks!

@Marduk77

That's exactly what I had in mind originally , but the small area under the front panel connection has double layer. The back layer is part of the latch for the side panel and I don't want to chance damaging it. I think I might be able to get close to the edge as possible and the wires might fit under the mobo at the edge and come out. Im going to give it a shot.. thanks

Get urself some U-channel molding from NMpctech.com and well I dont dig the fan grills but thats just me.

I just purchased some from micro center. 3.99 for 18 ft...lol

I don't like the fan covers too much either but they were 79c each at micro center.
I really liked the price!

I was on nmpctech website and they have killer fan covers...

I just finished painting the interiors and today I'm putting a clear coat on it.
I went Lime green with mine since its going to have green LED fans.
My bro wanted red so I went with a red paint and red LED fans.
We still need to cut out the side panel I hope we can use the water jet cutter
and do a nice design on the side!

Grilled Cheese this was my all time fav case.
I used this case to build my bro and my friends BF2 machines.
My brother held on to his and my friend upgraded and gave me his case.
It would have been much easier to just buy a new case and trust me
I thought about it when I was spray painting them.

Di noc on the top surface and still need to get the both side panels.
The one with the cutout needs time and a fresh blade!

Fan speed controller in front .
To reduce noise when Im not gaming
120mm Cooler Master 2000 RPM

The U channel tubing really makes it look sharp, but its a pain to get in

Ghetto fucking awesome! :D You gave that old case a new lease on life.

P.S. on a side note where you wearing a long sleeve button up shirt with shorts when you were working on this? lol

woot didnt know there was a ghetto mod section in H forums...lol
The cardboard cases are EPIC!

lol...manny thats how my bro rolls..

We paid with pain for wearing short while we used this tool
to make the 120mmm holes since its shoots small hot pieces of metal
all over our legs...lol
for bottom holes I learned and put on pants..

We did all the hand tool cutting in my basement and
the water jet cutting was done at my bros metalshop - http://altonametal.com/waterjet.html
I got to see this machine in action , the cut is flawless!

Which tool did you guys have better success with for making the 120 holes? The hole saw or the cutting wheel?

Nicely done. I like this mod x2 you've got going. And that 3M Di Noc stuff is so cool. Makes me want to put it on everything!

I like these! I remember I bought a performance Antec case. Man did I love the design back in the day. Really nice what you did with it.

The cases look great. Nice way to extend the life of some older cases. The interior kinda looks like my first case I got (and modded, painted inside & polished the aluminum drive cages) Apevia Destroyer I think. Your mod have made me think about further customizing my Apevia case.

I like it, when I get myself a 650D this coming winter I think I'll mod my apollo some more. :)

Thanks guys

It would be a great idea to get some old cases for future mods.

I couldnt find a picture of the Apevia Destroyer!

Im going to play ikariam with my old comp.
Im pretty sure it will meet the minumum requirements.
