Antec P182 prototype

yes but it includes the 2 psu's totalling at 1200w.. i'd be more concerned about the shipping on that steel beast, and not only that, that if you need to return it.. ouch

The p190 doesn't make sense... I can't see needing two PSUs in a case like that... It's not exactly a server case that fits 20 scsi harddrives. Seems like a gimmik to me. Best feature is oversize side fan. I use the side duct on the original p180 and it is cumbersome to work with, this 200mm fan would be 10 times better and make it easier to work inside the case... would make it slightly louder though punching a hole through the sound dampening side panel.

The p182 would be my next case if that thing came out... my original p180 is getting kindof worn out and the stainless steel looks very nice.

And I need 2 power supplys why? seems kinda silly, I think its more of the "look I have 2 power supplys im cool" factor. A single 1kw power supply will do the job

my 2 cents.

Have a nice day :)

At least the retarded slope on the top is gone and looks decent.

Optional in the sense that without it, the case looks like there is an attachment missing there. With the exposed latch holes and indentation it looks better with the thing on. The side panels are "optional" too in the same way.

Precisely my point.

A Seasonic 650W will last at least 2 more years with highend video cards in SLI.

lol nothing against you, im just saying

sorry if I came off has a "dick"

good day :D

I read somewhere on SPCR that they are looking at a March date for that... cause its going to production end of this month.

as a big p180 fan boi, I'll go ahead and pass on this one.

Dual 120s up top would be great for WCing, but with the psu on the bottom theres not much clearance topside.

Also, mirror finish stainless steel? W-T-F? give me a brushed finish, or matte black at least.

P190 includes two power supplies, $500 starting price doesn't surprise me.

my guess for the dual PSU's is when you have a quad core setup and a quad video card setup... lol you need a lot of juice for that, plus HDD"s etc.

Things should be striving to use less power, not more. We aren't trying to travel through time. Id rather just not play games than deal with the ridiculous notion of using multiple PSUs.

It's not about power consumption, but where the power comes from. Until we can rely less and less on fossil fuels, then yes, we should strive to consume less. If one were using a renewable source with ample power available, then it's really of no concern except perhaps financially.

Next system umm

P190
quadFX
R600 crossfire
2 15k sas drives (OS)
Single 1TB HDD (storage)
HD-DVD drive
4GB ram

:D

It is also not that unreasonable. Two good 600Watt PSU's can run you around $100-$130isn and higher end cases can run up to about $200 or more depending on the materials used in it's construction.

Why buy one when you can buy two for twice the price.

These manufacturers love to get double money out of you guys. SLI, Crossfire, this dual PSU. In each of those cases a single thing is better.

A PCP&C 800-1000w PSU is going to be better then two lower end ones.

The problem with this antec is part of their case design. I own a p180 so I know full well the limitations of this design. The higher wattage PSUs are longer... and it is already extremely tight in the bottom compartment with a normal PSU. You cannot move any of the supports in the bottom forward as that would encroach into the HD space. The only way they thought they could appease the higher wattage crowd was to slightly lift the devide up to fit two PSUs on their sides. At least this way you still have room to work down there.

How do you turn on two ATX psu's at the same time? Is there an internal connection that will switch the other on? It seems that this would be a proprietary thing. A master and slave PSU.

There is a wiring harness that's added that trips the power on function of the primary and secondary PSUs. The secondary PSU then gets turned on by the motherboard as the first one does.

I disagree. In all cases one is not better than two. I agree that on the power supply front, it probably is, but Crossfire and SLI are clearly more powerful than their single component cards are alone.

I understand but what seems to be happening is that the next generation's single card outperforms the previous in SLI.

SLI is a hack... it is not an elegant solution. There are lots of problems with SLI and crossfire... sure it is nice for the enthusiast to play with... but it is far from transparent.

The power can be impressive when it works, I agree... I guess I don't like the "cludge" feel of it.

I tend to agree with you. There are plenty of Nvidia approved single PSU's out there. The case is too small for a major expansion.

Id love that p182 Special Edition. I know that might not be released...When will the p182 be released at what price?
