I've been looking at this case for a long time, and am pretty sure i want it.
I've read that it can be a pain in the ass to work in, and having neat wires can suck.

For those of you that have this case, How do you like it? Is it worth the money? Also what power supply are you using with it?


I am also looking for some pics of peoples set ups inside? I want to make sure things will look neat and be very quiet.

Looking at an x2 a few hard drives, and maybe 7800gt sli....
 
I love this case. It's not hard to have neat wiring...it just takes time, like with any case. I'm using a Cooler Master Real Power 450w in it right now. The case is amazing as far as I'm concerned...
 
i like this case , it looks sexy.. my only gripe is the bulging door and the sheer weight of it.. it weighs so much its amazing
 
It's a good case. The only problem is fitting 6 ide drives in the bottom cage. I just don't think it works. Everytime I have tried, my cables become magically scratched.

It can be pretty tight to work in and it's heavy, but aside from that I'm very satisfied with my P180. It's silent, it's got a great cooling system, and it sure looks great.

I picked up the Enermax Noisetaker in my signature from the local PC Club after my second Antec NeoHE turned out to be defective. It's honestly so quiet I can't hear it at all, and it seems to work very well powering my system even though the cabling was quite a challenge. Whatever power supply you choose, I advise you strongly against buying a NeoHE.

My P180's door started bulging shortly after i got it as well, but i contacted Antec, and they sent me a replacement front panel(the entire front peice of the case with door, drive bays, the whole thing) free of charge. The replacement hasn't shown any signs of bulging.
 
Yeah there's a new door that supposedly fixes the bulging issue. I recently bought a p180 from newegg and it had the "revised" door and there are no signs of bulging as of yet. A great product....
 
I'm probably out of luck on getting a replacement on my P180's door, since it's the black SPCR exclusive one, but there's a link on the Antec website that gives instructions on fixing it up (requires removal and some slight bending). Looks great now. I'll edit this post if I find it because some P180 owners could use this info.

Anyway, people say it's a tight fit, and it probably is, depending on the situation. I have pretty slender hands, and my systems is completely air-cooled, so I could do just about everything I need without much of a hassle. I'm pretty new to "cable management", but I have most of the cables neatly stuffed behind the 2-HD cage on the upper portion. The PATA "ribbon" cables (from the hardrives, floppy drive, and X-Fi front port) make my cable management look like crap though. Overall, I didn't do the greatest job, but just about everything is out of the way for good airflow. Maybe I should take some pics to show everyone how it looks.

They say this case is good for dampening sound, but honestly I didn't hear much of a difference with my old steel case. This situation is highly subjective though. It depends on where people define a unit "quiet", what their ability to hear is , what their surroundings are, etc. One thing worth noting though is that it does a good job silencing hard drives. My Raptors don't make too much noise, even when seeking.

Right now I have 4 Yate Loons running at about 640 RPMs, which I will ramp up whenever it gets hot, but right now the fans themselves produce practically no noise. Along that is a crappy P4 stock fan on low, which still makes a small whizzing sound, but that will be replaced once I get my AMD system set up with another Loon. The fan from the PSU is pretty quiet, but not as quiet as I wanted it to be (PSU is in my sig). It's hard to describe the sound. I doubt that I'd be able to hear it when the case is closed though. Last is a fan on a Geforce 3 Ti that probably doesn't even work. The most noticeable sound from this case is probably the PATA hard drive. It's an older model WD 250 gig, so it makes a noticeably loud humming compared to the raptors that I got recently (about 2 months ago). I just hope that this 7800 GT won't ruin this perfectly quiet system though.

Worth the money? I don't know I'm not good with money :D. I got this black SPCR edition because I liked it black. I was thinking about getting the regular silver version, but I figured that I won't be getting a new case anytime soon.

Overall it's a really nice case. The door may seem flimsy at first, especially with that not-closing-all-the-way problem, but once that issue is resolved, it seems pretty nice. I think it has a magnet or something, but it kind of "sucks in" as you close it. I only noticed this when the door is fixed though. When it was out of place, it felt pretty cheap.

EDIT: Just watched the video. This was actually to address another issue that probably wasn't very common. That method still fixed my door problem though.
 
I love my P180. I do have the door buldge issue which I need to call Antec about and have replaced. Cable management is not hard if you plan it out carefully and use common sense. My specs are in my sig and I am using a PC Power and Cooling Turbo 510 Deluxe express PSU. Here are my pics:

Actually, I spoke to Antec recently, you should be able to get one thru the retailer that sold you the case.
 
i LOVE my p180....the cooling is fantastic, and it's the perfect pair w/a ninja.

You think that the Antec P180 does a better job cooling the CPU using the Ninja as compared to the setup I am using:

Thermalright XP90c/Panaflo 92mm High Output fan @ 30db/Arctic Silver 5

Idle CPU temp: 34c
Load CPU temp: ~44-48c
 
Well i think this shall be my new case. From what i have seen, it looks damn good.

Did anyone replace the stock fans? If so with what?

Burner how is the sound level on that PSU? I have one it´s extremely loud but I am thinking it would be less obtrusive with the location at the bottom and the better sound insulation on the P180...

I had it in an Antec Sonata case and it was really damn loud because of the poor ventilation that the Sonata did. Since moving it to the P180 and having the 120mm fan in front of it, the cooling fan in the PSU spins slower since the PSU is always getting fed cool air from that fan. So, in answer to your question, this PSU is relatively quiet now that it is in the case.
 
But when it do spin up? Do you see much difference just from it´s better positioning and sound insulation? Can you try run without the 120 mm fan :). I am going to run a beast of a system so it may run with the screamer on even with that 120 mm fan lol

I have not tried it without that 120mm fan blowing on it but I can tell you I have had it taxed. I mean, look at my sig to see what it is powering. I do a lot of video editing and such and it can get hammered pretty hard for juice.

well, I believe that the ninja is a better pair with the p180 because of the two exhaust fans working with the way the ninja is oriented with the fins being horizontal rather than vertical.
although we cannot compare temps directly as we're using completely different setups, with my setup my idle is ~26-28 and my load has never broken 33. I'm using the ninja with an antec fan (as5 naturally).

I have been debating this Ninja vs XP90c setup for a while and I cannot decide which is better. I honestly think I will not get any better temps and noise isn't a factor here since the fan i am using is barely audible.

Well, I do believe that in the p180 a ninja will perform better (especially if noise isn't a factor), but unless you're trying to squeeze every last DEGREE out of it, it shouldn't be a big deal.
 
Oh yeah one thing worth noting that its a bitch to clean up the aluminum part of the case (the silver/black part). I don't know how visible it is on the silver version, but getting fingerprints on the metal part of the case ain't pretty. I managed to find a solution to that though. Arctic Silver Articlean can be used for more than just removing thermal compound ;).

BTW you mentioned if anyone replaced the stock fans. I got 4 Loons in here, but because of the awkward design of the screwholes, you'll have trouble getting the top exhaust fan in because of the way it was designed. The only solution I can think of is cuting the shaft of the screwhole, so itll fit, but right now, my fan is just screwed in at an angle. If you need to find out more, I'll give you a visual to show you what I mean.

Ah, thanks for the info. I think I'm good though. After doing some bending, my door looks pretty good now.
 
To get back to my questions.

I've been looking at power supplies and i've come down to an enermax liberty 620 or a 600w ocz powersteam

any thoughts on either?
 
Powerstream is of higher quality but check the specifications. Maybe the 520 is more compact than the 600?
 
i am pretty sure that i want the 600w regardless or which brnad i choose.
As of right now i am leaning towards the liberty because of the modular cables.

But the powerstream does have the rail adjustments....

Well if it helps...I switched to the Ninja from a XP-90c...the XP-90c just couldn't keep my opteron cool...the Ninja works amaingly in my P180.
 
The ninja is more than likely the best air cooler out at the moment. HR-01 seems to be very similar though...
 
How large is this case, exactly? It's listed as a mid-tower, but I realized the other day that a mid-tower may not be as small as I thought it was. I have a Chieftec Dragon-series case...how is it in size compared to that?

I'm pretty sure this is the case I'll be getting. Nice change from 4 really loud 80mm fans. :)

It's bigger than a Sonata, but smaller than a Dragon.

I think it is going to be a little tight with two vid cards, but the low noise and good cooling options, i think it will be alright.

Tight and good airflow is generally not good combinations. The more stuff you add in the more you restrict the airflow. That is why wider cases has an advantage. Much easier for the air to pass through.

Now the Antec P180 does have a clever layout but you can not do much about it. You will have to use it as it was designed.

But with two video cards having VGA Silencers on them can´t hurt. At least not if you have dust filters since you may get negative pressure with only 1 120 mm intake.
