Antec P180 & IC7-G Problem

Hello, I apologize for being asking a noob question but I am a little concerned in regards to my new setup. I just bought an Antec P180 and am in the process of switching my parts over to the new case and ran into a mount placement issue.

The case has a non-removable mount in a place that my board does not have a hole. (See pictures below)

There is no Hole B and Mount B is not removable.


I am afraid and pretty sure that if I mount the board over Mount B that I could have the possibility of a short, the fact that this mount will be under the front connections kind of finalizes that decision.

I am wondering if I should remove that mount with a dremel, or if a piece of bicycle inner tube could be placed over that mount to prevent the board from coming in contact with the board.

well... the rubber could be punctured by the longer leads on those connections...

I say dremel it off.

the standoff does not conduct electricity so it will not harm your board if you leave it on. if you are paranoid then just cover it with rubber cement to insulate it

you can do without support in that place, but what i dont understand is i have a p180 and my mounts are removable, atleast they shure as hell seam to be, but i never really payed attention because everyhting lined up and fit perfectly
 
My NF7-S also didnt quite line up with all the holes in my Wavemaster...i just went "meh"...never had a problem...until it died about 1 1/2 years later...doubt it had anything to do with that, cos i flew the whole thing to London and back and still worked for several months...board itself was nearly 2+ years old...
 
I’m not worried about support in that particular area, there are already 9 other screws holding the board in place. I am worried about the mount touching two or more solder points on the board and causing a short or worse yet an arch :eek:.
 
nevermind i jsut took a look and buy god there not removable, so yeah dremel it off or take some vices and force it off, but yeah i wouldnt put my mobo on there with a metal piece sticking out like that i have no doubt it would short
 
Well problem solved, I tried turning the mount with a pair of vise grips and ended up twisting the mount. The mount is somewhat like a rivet and came out leaving a nice clean hole. I thank everyone for there help and support, it is much appreciated :D.
