Antec Nine Hundred?

ran similar config:

e4300 OC'd to 3.2
zalman 9700led

tt purepower express 250 gpu psu

2x wd raptor 80's in raid0

1x plextor dual layer burner
1x plextor 16x reader

very tight fit, required a few dremel incidents to be manageable, although that was motly due to the gpu psu adding lots of extra cabling. video cards got a bit warm, and that was with all of my tri-cools on high, all the time. cards were idling around 60-65c, load at about 80-84c, NB ran up to 150F, CPU was at 40C idle, 70-71C load. then my 680i died. i'm going back to single card, maybe an xfx gtx ultra xxx edition. 2 cards is nice, but the heat in that case becomes tough to manage.

I have a single GTX and there is enough room but it would get a bt cramped if I shoved another one in there. Although a person with cable management skills would prob be able to make it work as there aren't any clearance issues with the end of the card.

Edit: It's a great case for cooling btw, I'm running all fans on low without a side window fan and everything is still nice and cool.

Here's a pic of my current build using the Antec Nine Hundred case (work in progress):

That was taken 2 days ago - I do have some of the tubing in now, as well as the hard drive installed. All in all, plenty of room, as long as you use a modular power supply and/or make a couple of holes for all of the cables :D
 
Larry - That is an awesome job of cable management. That's actually my project for this afternoon. I bought an 8800GTX and (finally) some SATA DVD drives (burner & reader). I'm new to cable management - How did you run it on the other side of the case?

for all my parts (listed in other thoughts), and I did, but after I started doing the cabling, things got a little ugly. Though I mounted an extra fan on the side of the case, I had bought a second case fan to mount on one of the drive cages. Unfortunately with dual 8800GTX in SLI, it wouldn't fit. Plus things got really messy with cabling when I tried to attach power and SATA/IDE cables to mobo and peripherals. I couldn't even bother to use the cable ties that came with it. And last con is noise pollution. I have all of my fans running at full power and there's some pretty hefty air flow in there, but if you demand a really quiet machine, you're going to either want to look elsewhere or build with more quiet cooling

I thought the Ultra and GTX were exactly the same physical size? I have a GTX and except for removing the optional fan mount inside, there are no problems fitting it.
 
If you are planning on using a lot of hard drives, the GTX will be pretty tight. Here is what my rig looks like with a full load of hard drives and a GTS, it is fairly tight with all the data and power cabling going thru there.

That being said, I do love the cooling in this case, and with a fan controller noise isnt an issue at all. If I am not gaming I just crank the fans down to half speed and I cant even hear it.

I'm getting 8800ultra SLI.

harddrives = 1 only..... two the most. No Raid at all.


What do you guys think?
 
I have antec 900 and i love it, took a bit of work to make a clean install (dremel is your friend) but the case has great cooling and looks good.

Depends on what your needs/wants are. I have the P5WDH Deluxe running RAID 1. I wouldn't have it any other way. Besides, even if you do run SLI, you still have room for 2 hard drives in the lower cage.

Cable management in the 900 is a myth unless you're willing to dremel, modulate and sleeve like a madman...

Check his earlier post, he asked "what is dremel".. I dont think he's ready to be modding his case for the sake of cleanliness. I recommend looking at a bigger, friendlier case.
 
I have a 900 and I love it, maybe that's because I went from a crappy 50 dollar case to this, build quality is excellent. I do warn you though, pictures dont do the 200mm fan justice.
 
I too dremeled holes in the Antec 900. Same locations as Crazy Larry.

I too am using a Corsair 620W psu. Cable management is easy if you have a dremel

I personally am not a fan of the P18x because it dosent accomodate watercooling very easily, but by all means that is a good case. Probably not the best at cooling (front panel is obstructive to air flow) but I'd leave that up to a P182 owner to tell you otherwise.

Personally, I'm running my rig in a coolermaster stacker original (I really gotta stop with the shameless plugging of this case lol..)
