I have read from the MSI forum that the neopower dual rail (or perhaps any dual rail?) might have problems with A64 motherboards/system. Users report BSOD. Now this might be just a problem with the MSI board BUT I have also experienced BSOD after the installation of the neopower. I used to have an enermax 465W and i'd never get BSOD. But after installing the neopower (with everything else in the system unchanged), I get around 1 to 2 BSOD a day.

I returned the neopower to newegg and got the fortron FSP550-60PLG (by sparkle). This is a single rail EPS12V psu with a solid 36A on 12V.

Do you guys have any bad experience with the neopower?

I am running the Neopower on a MSI Neo2 Nforce 3 board no problems at all, Infact this new A64 system has been the most stable system I have ever had :)

Did your stability issues & BSOD's go away after the PSU switch? I was considering this PSU as my next one because I liked the detachable cables and stuff.

yes the BSOD only occurs after switching to neopower. Before I wold never get bsod (ever since i upgraded which is like 3 months now). But after neopower, I would get 1-2 bsod a day

I see. Did you try a different Neopower unit or was it just only one? It could have be just a bad lemon.

I didn't try a different neopower. It would be too much work to exchange for another one from newegg since i'd have to ship it back and wait for them to get me a new one.

I just went ahead and bought the fortron 550W that has a single 36A rail.

I wouldnt count the Neopower out as I said earlier its working fine here with a MSI Neo2 and a Athlon 64 3500+ 939 Pin chip. Voltages are good too according to the bios :)

MSI K8N Neo2 Plat, 3800+, 1GB ram, 4 HD's, 6800 Ultra all hanging off a Neopower 480. No BSOD's.
