Antec Aria: planning psu mod

hey
i just bought an antec aria case och built a new system with it.

i bought a zalman 7000 cu and it comes with a fan controller.
i was thinking that i would use the fancontroller with the psu fan. and connect it to the mobo instead of inside the psu.
dont worry i have a replacement fan, a papst 120 mm fan, 55cfm @ 26db.
so i probably could lower the rpm on that fan and still be ok.
and aslo drill som holes in the bottom part of the psu next to where the cpufan is.
then use the mobo's cpu fan controller for the zalman 7000.

ok...
anybody think i should do anything else? or not do the things ive listed?
would like some input...
 
Well I hope you have some diamond-headed drill bits to drill through the steel PSU. I've tried it with standard ones - it doesn't work.

Also, the 120mm fan is the only airflow in the case. Your temps will skyrocket and the ARIA is already smoking hot at stock. The default fan is nearly silent already, so I don't think that's necessary.
 
dont know if its just my psu fan but its not quiet at all. thats why i got a replacement fan.

right now my temps are 50-55 celcius... and ive had the computer running for a couple of days now.... so ill use the papst fan anyway since it got a better cfm

is the psu enclosure really that though to drill through?
 
I've got a somewhat lame ass mod that works and involves no cutting :D pull out some of the pci slot covers and put and 80 mm there. I don't have an aria but I think that would work even if it does look half ass :D

I opened mine up and stuck a Bloo 120mm LED fan in there, I'm running it at 7 volts and its nice and quiet. CPU temp is 42-47 most of the time. Smokin hot it ain't, of course it's a rock stock XP2500 on a MSI K7N2GM-L with a 9600XT vid card and a gig of cheap RAM.
 
i just put in the new fan in the psu.... sounds better.. but i still want it to be more quiet. so im gonna get another zalman fanmate, cheap and easy to use.

thinking of drilling a couple of holes in the front bottom om the case then mount a 40mm or 50mm on each side blowing air into the case from underneath.
probably have them at 7v if i do so. Adda makes some nice really low noise small fans.
i put on some revoltec ramfreezers on my ddr tonight also, should help the memory atleast.

zalman's thin 80mm fans thats made for their vga coolers would probably be best suited for putting inside the case if i would want to use that big a fan.

i have a 3.0 ghz socket 775 processor, they seem to be running hotter than the socket 478 ones ive found out. so i probably could use some extra fans inside
